Apparently Sawao wrote Lily, My Sun about five years prior, but just never got lyrics onto it until more recently.

Where is this info from? That video just posted on Youtube? Any more interesting tidbits you can share?
Also, it really is ridiculous the latest albums are outselling the old. Maybe the physical format isn't as dead in Japan as it is here in the US... but still, I just don't understand it. and another thing... what's up with Runners High being the only album from the "Holy Trinity" in the top 10? what did King Records do to promote that album so well and get that in the top 10, but not Little Busters or Happy Bivouac?

Re: [2011.1.24] HORN, AGAIN - New album
It is peculiar how much Runner's High has sold. If I recall, on its first week it hit #35 on Oricon and only charted for 3 weeks. Happy Bivouac however, only hit #74 on the charts after a week, even though it was released in the same year. Something caused a sharp spike and then sinking in pillows popularity that year. It's strange because there is a steady build up from PML sales to RH sales, and then HB just does horribly in comparison to RH. I guess people didn't like the singles on HB as much? It's kinda strange.
Anyways, yeah. I expect Horn Again to be one of the top 3 pillows albums in terms of sales. It'll probably boot out Ooparts and Rock Stock before too long. Haha, it is kinda sad to see the holy trinity get owned so badly. hahaha

Maybe opinions here are just overly biased and in Japan people like the new releases.
A shocking concept.

Unless you think Horn Again outsold Smile in a week because it was perceived to be a better album. But, I mean, your opinion man. I'd go far enough to say that there are probably a lot of Japanese fans that do enjoy albums like Pied Piper more than albums such as Living Field... knowing how the casual music listener goes, that's a pretty safe bet. It's clear that 90% of the pillows current fan base is made up mostly of people who listen to a lot of poppy rock and don't want or need much substance out of the compositions they listen too. Which is fine for them, and the pillows I guess. Makes me sad though.

Maybe you should quit condescending. Are you trying to make some kind of argument that because something is popular it's good? Spare me.

I agree with this. And obviously the promotion methods between the two labels have been different. I just want to know how much of a difference there really was/is.

I know what your point is, but you wouldn't make the same argument about, say, Justin Bieber, would you?
Does popular = good? What do we mean by good? Pleasing to the highest number of people?
edit: Even Sawao has explicitly disagreed with that notion when he complained about Spitz selling more records than he does. Didn't he say something along the lines of, "You can be popular and still write quality songs like Mr. Children. But Spitz... HOW DARE THOSE BAKAS! YADAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA"

Then, when Happy Bivouac came rolling in you know... or should I say Jun Suzuki?...

I would for the age group his music is aimed at. I'd like to think that when they grow up they move beyond it and into music with more substance and style, but i'm not going to join the bitch train thats all about telling people to listen to 70's bands like Led Zeppelin because its "real music".
My point was simply that the majority seem to enjoy Horn Again, which means one of two things. Either for one reason or another, there's some flawed opinions and negativity floating about that is clouding peoples judgement of the album, or two, that everyone who likes it is a chump and the people who don't are the ones with a highly evolved musical sense.
And no, i'm not rehashing what was said in the 'State of IM' thread. I overreacted to some extent and opinions were not as outright negative as they were protrayed to be in that thread.
