Modest Mouse
I've got now idea why there isn't a topic for this band yet. I just listened to "Good News For People Who Love Bad News" for the first time. Great, truly great music. (I focused mainly on lyrics)
I went to the city today, and bought my first three CD's. (Modest Mouse, Gorillaz - Demon Days, The Pixies - best of) I've got to say, the quality compared to those compressed mp3's, it's just. .whoah, never thought I would notice such a big difference on first hearing)
fake edit: well, there was a topic while ago in 2005, but it isn't much: sad sappy suckers for modest mouse?

Re: Modest Mouse
Modest Mouse is fantastic. Good News and We Were Dead practically made my 2004 and 2007, respectively. *sigh* The World At Large.

Re: Modest Mouse
I had the pleasure of seeing Modest Mouse when they toured with REM. They're pretty great, definitely "pissed off music". I must say, I consider Lonesome Crowded West their greatest album.

Re: Modest Mouse
Haven't heard their whole discography (yet). To be honest, I only listened to Good News. . . and We Were Dead. . . a few times and a bit of Lonesome Crowded West one time. (except for "Doin' The Cockroach", which I have on my mp3-player) But atm:
- Missed The Boat - Ocean Breathes Salty - Education - Dash Board

Haha, in my previous post, I was about to add those two songs to my top 5. But along with some other songs, I couldn't choose one to put as a fifth favorite song.

Re: Modest Mouse
I can't choose a particular song, even though I commanded ya'll to do it. I'm sorry, I just can't!! When you listen to ONE song by them you have to listen to the rest of the album, that's just how cruel life is.

Re: Modest Mouse
It might be their Smells like Teen Spirit, but I always found Float On to help me get through stupid days.

Re: Modest Mouse
I've never been able to get into this band. I couldn't stand that Float On song when it was popular and the other songs I've heard by them haven't done anything for me, either. The vocalist's style of singing kind of annoys me but even musically these guys don't click with me, despite having Johnny Marr on board.

Re: Modest Mouse
I didn't like the vocalist initially either but a couple songs grew on me...
