Been there, done that. >>;
Btw The Stone Roses weren't really that jangly or shoegazey, more psychedelic really besides being the precursor to Britpop.
As far as underrated shoegaze goes Pale Saints are definitely at the top of the heap for me, extremely underrated band with a lot of great songs. Definitely check out The Boo Radleys and The Lilys as well. The Verve's first album is also worth mentioning. Also check out The Horrors' "Primary Colours" for something more recent.
Anyways speaking of Britpop I've been getting into Pulp a lot lately. Brilliant stuff.
Btw The Stone Roses weren't really that jangly or shoegazey, more psychedelic really besides being the precursor to Britpop.
Sounds like you haven't actually heard their first album if you're calling it just psychedelic. Second Coming was definitely pysch rock, but they still had a Beatles influenced jangle pop sound in the 80s. Otherwise I wouldn't have been able to stand them, because I hate Madchester bands. From wikipedia: "The U.K. C86 scene and twee pop share qualities with jangle pop. There were vibrant scenes in the UK (The Stone Roses, The Brilliant Corners, Jazz Butcher, Monochrome Set, The Popguns, Loft, The Family Cat, Felt, James), Australia (The Go-Betweens, Hummingbirds, The Church) and New Zealand (The "Dunedin Sound" of bands such as The Clean, Mad Scene, Jean-Paul Sartre Experience, The Bats, The Chills, Sneaky Feelings)." http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jangle_pop

Re: Artist you're currently listening to.
Different definitions then. I most definitely have heard the first album many times (its the reason why I got into The Stone Roses in the first place) and I would argue it has more than its fair share of psychedelic portions to it (I Wanna Be Adored, I Am The Resurrection, and Fools Gold being the most prominent.)

My stoner boss gave me an assload of CDs, I'm listening to a lot of Umphrey's McGee lately.

Does anyone else like Plastic Tree? I want to hate it because of this guy's visual kei bullshit, but I can't find a song on YouTube that I don't like. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uToI0OHP ... re=related

Those awful vocals are definitely not my cup of tea, nor is the bland guitar. Got a better song to link? D;

Re: Artist you're currently listening to.
No idea how good or bad the vocals were because the song was mixed so badly and the vocals were processed through a dense filter of effects.
If I had to judge, kind of sounds like a dude trying hard to be a woman.

Well. This is embarrassing. Not sure what I was thinking, because listening to them again makes me think they are indeed pretty bad.

Were you really high? I've heard sometimes you can mistake bad music for good when too wasted to tell better. Edit: Try these two, my gf linked me and they're much better songs. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IRM0At4AWzw(ballad-y rock song, weird-as-fuck video) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6FpWbnQTT64(catchy, driving)

I was going link Nukegara, but it doesn't really translate to any of their other songs. A diamond in the rough. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DXrbhKqavgcedit: i wasn't high. unfortunately.
