Re: Anime (other than FLCL)
Baccano! Finished it only a few days ago and absolutely loved it. Only Death Note had me captivated this much before. I strongly recommend it to everyone.

I spent a good minute wondering why that sounded familiar to me.
Apparently, I was thinking of Meccano.

Re: Anime (other than FLCL)
Haven't watched much anime in a while, but I did check out Higurashi no Naku Koro ni recently because I was looking for a horror series. I'd recommend it.

Re: Anime (other than FLCL)
Currently watching Elfen Lied, amongst others, and I must say I'm a tad disappointed. Leaving the violence and gore aside, which is pretty intense and cool, the rest is too cheesy and boring. I was expecting a much darker anime.

Re: Anime (other than FLCL)
Baccano! is too Tarantino‒esque for me. I got to episode 3 or 4 and lost interest.

Re: Anime (other than FLCL)
That's what I loved about it. The non-linear storytelling and the incredible set of characters.

I watched a few episodes of Hajime no Ippo. It's already regarded as a classic, so it hardly needs my recommendation, but here we are.

Re: Anime (other than FLCL)
Baccano! Well, thanks for the tip Revol. I enjoyed it for the time being. Though it had to grow on me, for the first 3 or 4 episodes.
It's already been said a while ago on IM, but I'd like to recommend "Welcome to the NHK" It consists of 24 episodes, so you won't be stuck with it for all too long.

Hey, I felt the same way for the first couple of episodes. The story's a mess, there are too many characters, you get all confused. But then, when the story catches up and things start getting clearer, you realize you're dealing with a masterpiece.
As for Welcome to the NHK, I agree, it's a great anime. It's actually in my top 10.

Thirding NHK. I'm sure I've recommended it before.

Hajime no Ippo makes me want to go out and punch trees into hills until my fists are broken, or until the tree is firmly driven into the hill. Highly recommended, though I doubt I have any clout among you all yet.

NHK makes me want to be driven into a hill so I can hide away from the world. The humor does not overpower the sadness, but I recommend it, anyway.

Re: Anime (other than FLCL)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=f_jEU_lzZA4Looks promising. (sorry it's not really an anime serie, but I didn't know where to post it elsewhere) It's from the same guy who has a pillows cover band in South Korea. (Sleepy Busters)
