Beck: Mongolian Chop Squad Live Action film
Apparently its set for this year. I'm watching it for sure, Beck changed my life, got me into to guitar, the pillows, music, everything I care about. Thoughts?

If Sawao and the gang were young enough, they could cast them in this movie.

Re: Beck: Mongolian Chop Squad Live Action film
ugh, cry me a river, guys. unless the aforementioned movies are being directed by Uwe Boll, everybody needs to shut the fuck up and wait till more details about the movies are released. So sick of the tardtastic assumption that any live action remake at all of a cartoon is automatically going to suck without knowing anything about how they're going about it. And any idiot that changes their opinion about a series based on the live action remake is just that. An idiot.

I'm curious, where were you when the Dragonball movie was released?

Re: Beck: Mongolian Chop Squad Live Action film
But that was Dragonball, and Dragonball isn't every live action adaptation ever. Pigeonholing every single live action adaptation with a movie as terrible as Dragonball is pretty damn unfair. For example, one of my favorite manga series is Gantz, but its anime adaptation was pretty bad to be honest, but assuming that every anime adaptation of every manga I've ever liked is going to suck would be stupid. I also highly doubt the Dragonball movie hampered the sales of the tons of Dragonball games, worthless merchandise, or any other products with the Dragonball name on it. Dragonball's popularity has been waning because the series has been over for over a decade, not because of some half assed movie made by a bunch of hacks with the Dragonball name slapped on it. In the case of Cowboy Bebop, from wikipedia: "Variety confirmed on 15 January 2009, that the production company Sunrise Animation will be "closely involved with the development of the English language project." The site also confirmed Kenji Uchida, Shinichiro Watanabe, and series writer Keiko Nobumoto as associate producers, series producer Masahiko Minami as a production consultant, and Peter Craig as screenwriter." Kieko Nobumoto, the person who wrote the damn series is going to be working on it as well. Calm down.

Re: Beck: Mongolian Chop Squad Live Action film
Experience and conventional wisdom tells us that film adaptions of anime/video games/comics don't work that well.
I have literally never seen a good live action film based on an anime series, so I think my skepticism is quite justified.

Apparently, some of us have not been to the movie theater in, oh, twenty years.

Re: Beck: Mongolian Chop Squad Live Action film
Even if you hated the recent batch of Superhero films (of which I'm kind of tired, tbh), the Superman that starred Christopher Reeve is pretty classic.

Re: Beck: Mongolian Chop Squad Live Action film
Spoiler of the day: comic book movies have no greater or worse chances of sucking than any other movie.
