[url]http://na.finalfantasyxiv.com/[/url] Announced today, as a surprise from Sony. An MMORPG, coming in 2010 for PS3 and PC.

Final Fantasy XIV, from what I see, is a direct sequel to Final Fantasy XI. It takes place in the same world, and has the same races. I played FFXI for 3 years, and found it to be amazing. I have yet to play an MMO that matches the experience, and I've played WoW.

God damn, I've missed a bunch of them if we're already at XIV. The last one I played was X.

You should check out FF12. Despite what people say, it's a great game, with a grand story. People are just butthurt that there's no cliched romance subplot.

Actually, I planned on that. I want to check out 13 as well, but I have a Wii. Maybe I'll just use my brother's 360.

Eh, FFXII was okay.

People mostly disliked FF12 for two reasons.

1) It's battle system is very MMORPG like. I liked it a lot though. Was a lot less boring than traditional turn based style which bores the fuuuuuuuuuuck out of me.
2) Vaan. The main character is just... meh. Luckily, he's the least focused on main character in existence.

I didn't have a problem with the battle system, it was the extremely linear story, the pointlessness of the license grid since you can't get jack shit in the way of equipment until the game wants you to, and the underwhelming final battle.

The trailer for XIV looks awesome though. I'm really interested to see what the next gen of MMORPG's are going to look like.

The license grid was hardly pointless. I loved it. It let you choose which characters did what and affected a lot more than just what armor you wore.

As for FF14, I'm excited. (Sexually.)

Jeez, already? XIII won't be out for another half century or so and the next one's been announced?


Meh, I've been out of it since VII. Just give me FFV DS and I'll be happy.

To h2o: I did almost every hunt as soon as it was available. I was beast at that game. None of my characters sucked because they were all obscenely proficient at the license grid.

You haven't played it because it doesn't exist yet. But if the past is any indication (FF3 and 4 DS) then a ds remake of V and VI is entirely possible. (Plus we know the DS isn't going anywhere anytime soon, so they defienately have time.)

Oh shit, I totally had a dumbass attack right there. I was thinking of Dragon Quest V, not FFV. FFV was okay. I liked the job system, but the story wasn't very good. lol Evil trees be destroyin' the world yo'.

I'm insulted that there's no FFVI for DS yet. I want the original hard Japanese version, not the pussified GBA release.
