 Re: Anime (other than FLCL)
How is it weeaboo? Isn't anime in general weeaboo? Also, yeah, the ending was kind of lame, but I figure I'll just read the manga and see what actually happens since the anime was made when the manga was like 25% or 50% done so they had nowhere to finish it at.

Lame ending? Seriously? I thought it was absolutely perfect.

 Re: Anime (other than FLCL)
It wasn't perfect at all. I wouldn't consider it totally lame or a bad ending, it just kind of bummed me out that they basically leave you on a cliff hanger. I absolutely hate when shows refuse to resolve things.
Speaking of which, I just finished the first series of Code Geass. Shit was awesome. Watched it over 3 days. Was totally entranced in it. Can't wait to see the second season.

Warning: The beginning is like, wtf, is this Tenshi Muyo->Universe-esque?
The answer is no.
Just stick through the first episodes until the plot gets moving again.

Girls all have pink hair and are mega kawaii neko neko desu. Lucy's meowing gets really fucking annoying at times and it's like watching pokemon. There are moments where stupid awkward stuff happens for no reason, and it's just weird[like when she pisses on the floor]. Some stuff just doesn't make sense either, like when have you ever known a kindergartner who would kill a puppy?

I'll be honest, the Nyu she does is a bit annoying after a while, but it's part of her character, I guess. I was mildly annoyed with it only because it reminded me of Chobits more than anything (Hideki, hideki, hideki. Nyu, nyu, nyu.) The piss on the floor was supposed to show how much of a child she was and blahblah. As for the kindergartner thing, I suppose you haven't met any fucked up kids. There was a kid at my school who tried to poison the other kids at our school by mixing this weird ass "love potion" he made to try and kill the teacher. He was in like 1st or 2nd grade. Dude was severely disturbed.

 Re: Anime (other than FLCL)
Basically Elfen Lied is hella shallow, slow, and has uninteresting characters.
But it has lots of tits and violence, as well as a fantastic opening theme.
Therefore, it is popular. Undeserved in my opinion. Did you honestly give a shit about any other characters than Nyuu? And when you cared about Nyuu, was it just in hopes that you'd get some more boob on screen?

 Re: Anime (other than FLCL)
It was shallow? Are you kidding me? It was a better attempt at something resembling a decent story compared to most shit anime produces. I'm not going to say it was DEEP AS FUCK, but for an anime, it was pretty deep. Not as deep as Serial Experiments Lain, but it explored actual themes and whatnot, whereas very few anime go beyond what a main character does.
I cared about most, if not all, of the characters. Mayu was a really sad character, as well as Nana. I think I even cried at both of their stories, as well as the part with the puppy killing when it came to Lucy's back story.
Elfen Lied reminded me a lot of X-men in the fact that it explores very similar themes of feeling like an outcast or being treated poorly because you're different. It also showed characters like Nana and Mayu finally being happy in their makeshift family with Yuka and Kohta. There's other things, but I feel like I should watch it again before I make a super long post about it.

 Re: Anime (other than FLCL)
speaking of evangelion (and ignoring blank's retarded link), any word on when the next Rebuild of Evangelion movie's coming out? It was supposed to come out last year iirc.

 Re: Anime (other than FLCL)
Elfin Lied is decent.
And about Eva... the new date for the second film is "Summer 2009".

 Re: Anime (other than FLCL)
OK First of all, that youtube link was absolutely AMAZING!!! Ahahah....
Secondly, Elfen Lied was brilliant and I completely agree with h2orowe. It was brilliantly developed for the time it had (13 episodes).
Thirdly, I can't wait for the Evangelion movies to be released. The first one is now scheduled for the US release late in 2009 as far as I know... I think.

It's been out for ages. I highly recommend it. Unless you're totally averse to reading subtitles.

 Re: Anime (other than FLCL)
I've seen the first one at Anime Expo. It hasn't been released in the US though, I have no idea what you're talking about.
