TNG's writing is at least 10x better than TOS's - I would say it is one of the best-written shows in the history of television (that I've watched). However, TOS is really where it all began, so nothing beats it in originality. I believe that what TOS started, TNG refined to perfection. Both shows had a fantastic cast with highly memorable characters, so I can't go one way or the other on that. It's a hard choice, but I went with TNG.

The other ST series are less-than-stellar, in my opinion. Or terrible, actually.

DEFINATELY TNG. Original series had too much Shatner.

Or...not enough Shatner?

I went with TNG. I'm not huge into Star Trek, but I used to watch TNG once in a while because it was freaking awesome.

You beat me to it, but I can't vote because both are fucking win in my book. TOS laid the ground work for TNG, but TNG took the story line of the Enterprise and the world Gene Roddenberry created to a whole new level. But I have to say that Voyager and Deep space Nine killed it for me. Voyager wasn't as bad as DS9, but I still hated it.

Also, why was this thread created?

Yeah, uh, this is about Star Trek, not BBC programmes.

But while we're at it, Top Gear!
