This is technically related to the website, however I think it's ok to post it here. It's hard to write this out without making it sound like a complaint... To my knowledge, it is up to one person to maintain the website, news posts, tabs, lyrics, etc. I would't even have the patience for something like that, but in my opinion I think the site would benefit from a tab database where users could upload thier own tabs to ensure that it's up to date. There are a huge amount of tabs contained in the forums, and a ton of them arn't posted to the main site. I think it would be great if the tab section was more comprehensive and user friendly, so that some of our great contributers like Keitaro and SheerHeartAttack to name only a couple could have thier tabs stored on the site. I had this idea after contacting Keitaro about tabs he used to have on his website, and he sent me a giant folder full of a ton of older pillows material that i've never seen tabbed anywhere else. (His site has been offline) I'd like to hear if other people think this would be a good idea. ![]() |

Anyone can submit a new tab through the tab submission form - adding the tab is almost automatic, I just review it to make sure it's not spam/garbage. It was broken for a while (I don't know for how long, nobody told me, probably because they gave up hope on me :x) but it's fixed now. Nobody has submitted a tab yet since I fixed it. Keitarou also sent me his tabs and I added all the ones I didn't already have. I've been working on completely redoing the site (minus the forum), and this is one area where I'm not sure where to go with - supply of tabs doesn't seem to be that high. Right now I'm keeping the existing system. I could potentially add an update function that will allow people to replace existing tabs if they need to make a correction. So yeah, let's hear it - what are people interested in? |

Can it host guitar pro files? Those are far more accurate and easy to use (when done properly), and I just so happen to have about 5 band scores from which I'll be scoring out several songs this summer for the cover night in the Fall. |

i don't wanna bug you with this again, terra. but i don't know if you didn't have the time to, or you didn't understand when i asked you. when i sent you that file with a bunch of tabs i'd like you to replace the ones in the site with the ones i've just sent you. mainly those older ones like, Tonight, Happy Slave, PML, Good Dreams, Bye Bye Sweet Pain, all of them. 'cause many of them have been updated, i've corrected some mistakes, but i can't exactly say which of them still hasn't been updated, i'm sorry for that. that's why i tell you to replace them all, if it's not much to ask. |

Did you send me the right ones? @Mare: For now, you could email me the files and I can put them up manually. I'd have to think about how to do a submission system for GP5 files. It's trickier to allow uploading of arbitrary files, they would have to be scanned for viruses and malicious scripts, etc. |

I suppose that I can tell people to send me guitar pro tabs, and I'll check them (hopefully I can get help from Sheer and others if they're not scored out from a band score and I can't tell how accurate they are) and then send them all on to you? |
I actually did check the files and didn't see any that were updated - there were no differences from what I already had (I have a program that can compare files). Did you send me the right ones?
yeah, i checked here and there are differences in some tabs. some mistakes corrected. many tabs are still untouched, but i changed some details in all of them. the information that comes before each of them: they used to be: The Pillows Album: *** Song: *** By: _KeitarO_ now they're all: the pillows Album: *** Song: *** By: KeitarO amongs other details, which i can't really list here. Also, I haven't searched for recent tabs, but for example, inside that 'pillows tabs.rar' file that i sent you, there is 'happybivouac.txt', which hasn't been put in the site. that's why i asked you to just update them all. it might be boring, but i don't plan to edit these recently updated tabs again. |

You're right, I missed some. I think I know what may have happened - I already had another folder full of your tabs and looked at the wrong one. I'll have to check when I'm at home. Edit: Yep, that's kinda what happened... I had some other rar file and extracted that one. ![]() @Mare: Sure, that sounds fine. |

All right, I think I got all the updated tabs right this time, Keitaro. ![]() Actually, now that I think about it, if you type the song name and your name from an existing tab exactly the same way in the tab submission form, when I approve the tab, it should just overwrite the existing one. So you can update it by replacing it. The only other idea I had was to have a way for people to rate tabs. I need to do some other behind the scenes junk first though to make that happen. |
