Personally, I'm not a fan of the "P!". It's a FLCL thing that is commonly mistaken as a pillows logo, and it's a bit of misinformation that I want to extinguish.
But I understand if you want to have a little nod to FLCL, since that is where the majority of the foreign fans came from.

Hm, I thought it was official art, that's why I used it. I don't want to use someone else's fanart.

Since buster is property of the pillows anyway, I thought it would save time. I figured I could make the head myself but no matter what I did it would end up looking pretty similar since buster is just a few simple shapes, really. But I can re-draw the head and change the sunglasses since those [i]are[/i] specific to his version.

Regarding the P! if I remember my trivia right it was never made clear what it was a reference to. Some people assumed it might be a reference to Piaggio, who makes the Vespa scooter, but it could just as likely be the pillows as far as i'm concerned and yes, it was a good way to make a small nod to both. Originally I had text in the speech bubble but it was too hard to read on the small forum banner and I wanted something clear and simple.

Round 2 boys. I've re-drawn buster myself this time and added a few smaller details in the process. These have been sent off to Terra and we should have some new banners on the way!

It's probably still a really good idea to ask permission since you're still sort of copying an original design, but looks cool.

I drew the entire thing myself this time, and if anything buster is intellectual property of [i]the pillows,[/i] Yoshimasa doesn't own the rights to "buster with sunglasses on." They're clearly different.

No problem. I'm no graphics art law person, I just think crediting the oroginator of a specific idea is swell if one is so inclined, as we do know who came up with the thing. Nbd carry on etc etc.
