Post subject:  un, amps.

Been amp shopping lately. Wouldn't mind a bit of input from the kids at IM.
My budget is around 1000 US dollars. I need all tubes - loud enough for all kinds of gigs (but good for practice at home and not toooo loud) that doesn't suffer in the cleans and can deliver somewhat when the gain is turned up a bit. Of course, I'll always have my delicious pedals to manage any loose ends when it comes to dist, anyway. So far I've been eyeing a fender hot rod deville. 60 watts is plenty when you're talking tubes - and quite obviously, the clean sound won't be suffering. Actually, if anyone has any experience with this amp, input would be cool. Hell, I could use any input. I'll find something sooner or later, but it's nice to have words of advice coming from all directions. So far I have pretty much sworn off Marshall - I don't like most Marshall's clean and light sounds. I'm going to be playing alllot of blues, some rock - and everything in around. Un un un un un.

I think Jomei (if thats how you spell it) has a Hot rod.

I played one at my local guitar store, and liked it, but its to expensive for me.

If you've got a thousand bucks and hate marshalls, GO ORANGE! Most of them aren't too expensive and all, i mean all of them sound good. You could probably get a 250 watt for $900. You could even toss in a decent pedal along with that.

Well shit. You could've said so...

Mesa/Boogies are nice, but those run in the neighborhood of some odd $2000+.

You could probably find a Fender Twin Reverb for about $1000. Those are wonderful, wonderful all tube amps. The Super Reverb is really nice too. The hot rods are alright but I've never really been that impressed by them.

I looked at twins and felt it would be a waste of their clean sound. Plus, they're a bit *too* loud.

They are a bit on the loud side. In that case you should look at the Deluxe Reverb. Much smaller, but they still pack a punch.

Did you know that Judy basically got a Fender Twin for free? He's a lucky bastard.
