I was wondering if you guys could help me.I've been listening to weezer and fountains of wayne. I really enjoy their music , but i have this problem of listening somethig to death. So are there any other bands that sound like ,or better than weezer ( when they did the blue album.) and fountains of wayne.

hey guitar vader!

here are some band suggestions =)

as a fan of weezer, i think you'll really like wolfie and the like young. <--- bands similar to these also include veruca salt, bunny grunt, that dog, gwenmars, lupine & verbena.

mp3s:

wolfie - everybody knows how to cry (3.1 mb)

the like young - looked up (2.7 mb)

(suggestions for wolfie: hey its finally yay, you have to leave, citizen song, what i want from the world - you can also find some of these in the rarities section of their website)

also check out weezer's related bands/solo projects (the special goodness, space twins, the rentals, homie etc.) if you haven't & ozma that have opened for them on tours. twee & cuddlecore is a genre that adheres to most of these bands and one you'll thoroughly enjoy ;D

what genre of music does fountain of wayne play? ;_; i'm really sorry that i haven't heard their music, and can't recommend music along those lines, but i can help you with genres
*high fives*

Its a little far from Weezer and F.O.W, but if you want GREAT guitaring, go for Steve Vai and/or Joe satriani. Thats what I call good music.

Also, Rush, is another one of my favorites.

if you like Weezer, you'll LOVE the Rentals. it's Matt Sharp's (the bass player for Weezer) other band. i actually like them better than Weezer. plus Rivers is an ass.

Get the album 'Return of the Rentals'

Also, if you like Blue/Pinkerton-era Weezer, you NEED to get Pavement's "Slanted and Enchanted." Weezer definitely "borrowed" more than a few things from that album. Although I don't like them much myself, a lot of Weezer fans also like Ozma's "Rock and Roll Part 3" and Ben Kweller's "Sha Sha."

EDIT: Oh. Seconding the Rentals. Good stuff.

Uh, well, the pillows basically are the Japanese Weezer, so if you've heard them, you really can't go wrong...

They're pretty similar. Weezer's perhaps the only American pop/rock band unafraid of using major keys.

Also, pretty much every non-pillows fan I've played their stuff for says they sound a lot like Weezer.

I don't think the Pillows sound like Weezer at all.
