i just recently (last thursday) saw green day live (and sadly new found glory as well because they were the special guest and played more than half an hour..ew.). it was my first concert ever and i probably had the best time in my life for years now. they really know how to encourage the crowd and i loved the jokes they put into the show. i was lucky and didn't have to pay anything for my ticket, because my best friend got them for us, very kind. after the concert i was so exhausted from jumping, screaming, waving and helding my friend in the air, but i think it was worth it.
i'll probably be picked on now, because 'one hates green day', but i don't care. i like them and i really enjoyed the concert. i'm looking forward to visit more concerts of other bands now, because before i couldn't really imagine how it would feel and now i want to do that more often.
terra, did you see anyone live besides the pillows? i think you were at their show which is presented on the new live dvd, no?

Do you have a few months? Remember I am old and a music fanatic so therefore I have seen a LOT of concerts.
My first http://kyokoscafe.net/pirouzu/bb/viewtopic.php?t=26
My last http://kyokoscafe.net/pirouzu/bb/viewtopic.php?t=67 Actually that was more of a bar gig than a concert (Which I prefere, smaller venue and all) but man was it fun. This one will definitly be one that sticks out in my mind.
Worst concert, The Rolling Stones believe it or not. Ridiculous stage show in a huge arena so the acoustics were awful. Also, all they played was stuff that get's constant air play on every classic rock station around the globe. I know they have to play that stuff but they could have thrown in a couple of lesser known songs like Angie and Let it Bleed. Nope I had to sit through listening to Brown Sugar for a 16th millionth time with out any redemption. Also, I think the tickets were like a million dollars each.
Best concerts. Live, What an amazing band. When they called them selves Live, they knew what they were talking about. This band is incredible.
Let me tell you the story of Sponge. I went to a rock festival called Edge Fest some years ago that had about a zillion bands playing with The Ramones headlining. Anyway, this was an out door event and the weather just sucked! It was cold and rainy and there was mud EVERYWHERE! The fact that most of the attendees were kids who were only there because they got free tickets didn't help either. Needless to say, I and everyone else there got pelted with mud a couple of times. The little bastards were even throwing it at the bands. I remember when KMFDM came on they said "Hey! Don't throw mud, throw reafer! And remember F%$ YOU!" That was funny. Anyway, because it was so rainy and icky out, my friend Bob and I decided to go and sit in one of the display tents that the sponsering radio station had set up at the back of the fest. While we were sitting there, I heard this music coming from the stage. I think my friend was in mid sentance and I just kind of found myself standing up and walking out side the tent. I got out there, stood there for a minute and then found my self just walking toward the stage. Finally I stop and I just started dancing. None of this was planned. I didn't go to this fest to see Sponge. I had only heard one song by them before called Molly (Sixteen Candles) that I liked but hell, I was going there to see The Ramones, Collective Soul, Bush and a few others. Anyway, they were just amazing live and I never expected this little band to be so good. I was really impressed with them.
The Ramones, were of course fantastic.

Iffy was ... iffy. Better Than Ezra rocked. The Mars Volta, although an interesting band, sounded terrible live. The Queens of the Stone Age were okay, but had too much bass in their mix. Incubus was pretty awesome, but the Red Hot Chili Peppers top all of the above.
Local acts... Asking Abby (Abbie? Can't remember) was pretty bland for the thirty seconds I listened to them before leaving the venue. Izmir is lame. I skipped seeing Makeshift Empire.... but some death-metal band is coming and I might sit through that in order to laugh at Izmir's set after they finish. Cory and the Fireflies... yeah, fucking lame. Indian Summer... not too bad when they weren't all stoned and drunk while playing.
I want to see the Pillows more than any other band, but I also really want to see the Strokes, the White Stripes, RHCP again, Audioslave, the Pixies (did anyone else see them on Letterman last night?), and Led Zeppelin (reunion tour, GO! please? Dave Grohl can drum!). I'd also like to see Bright Eyes, so I can kick Conor's ass.

I saw thrice one time. They only played for like a half hour which was stupid. But they were handing out these energy drinks and the singer threw one into the crowd and it hit this guy who wasn't paying attention in the back of the dome. Funniest shit ever. The can like exlpoded. Awesome.
The people that went to see thrice are suuuuuch douchebags. I'm ashamed to have been in the same room with them.

Never been to what one would call a "real" concert. It looks like the pillows will be my first!

Flogging Molly was a recent show I went to see.
I got fucking wrecked in the moshpit and ended up catching a cold from standing in cold sweat for the rest of the show.

I used to cronicle all the shows I went to back in the day, but I stopped updating it after awhile. As you can see, my musical taste didn't ripen to a decent selection for awhile, lol.
Probably one of the best shows I've been to was the Asbury Skate and Surf festival, mainly because I got to see the Descendents; their first show since the Everything Sux tour in 1996/7 and the last performance to date. A lot of people were just leaving because they weren'y aware of their most excellent legacy and music, but I can't complain since I was only a fledgling fan at the time. They were awesome though and it was a once in a lifetime thing.
But I wrote up some concert summaries on that site, no need to transcribe them here.

i think my first concert was eve6 + third eye blind. it was cheap, i was young. it was at a local college, hence the cheap tickets and iffy acoustics. ugh.
big bad voodoo daddy was a lot of fun. the crowd was split between hugging the stage while bobbing around and actually swing dancing in the back. reel big fish i've seen twice (once for free ). also a fun show. i also saw a bit of local stuff while i was in college, miroslav was the best of them. they once called themselves the lovechild of nirvana and the pixies, if that makes any sense.
more recently, freezepop. they're synth-pop. it was at a local anime con of all things, one of their songs was in karaoke revolution or something. really low budget but really fun and intimate, they were good performers. and they happily sold and signed their cds afterward.
and yeah, the pillows. <3 three whole hours. i regret not taking more pictures, at least of the setup, but i didn't want to get in trouble. i wanted to fit in more shows (noodles and husking bee had shows!) while i was in japan but my trip was cut short by a hurricane.

I...I umm...never been to a concert at all....(is that a bad thing) and I guess in order to see a J-rock one I'll have to wait until I get out of highschool and what not....I wish I could see The Pillows play here in america considering it may be a once in life time experience

That varies from show to show for me. The Red Hot Chili Peppers and Better Than Ezra definitely required them, but I was comfortable without earplugs at Incubus. Surprisingly, it's louder in the seating area of venues than it is on the floor.

i saw waterdeep in 2001... then they broke up and the lead singer did a solo tour. i saw that in 2003. it's a mix of blues and folk rock, for the record.
