Post Video Game Music
I know most of us here enjoy video games, and we are all familiar with some of the memorable tunes from our favorites. The other day I was humming to the tune of the Wind Wakertheme, a game I haven't even played in years. And then there's this song link, that I'm in love with, even though I've never played the game it's from.

Anyone else like any video game songs[as nerdy as they might be]?

FF Tactics and Chrono Trigger both have amazing soundtracks.

Also, this is a really great opening theme: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ISSAZrUU9aU

Akira Yamaoka's work for the Silent Hill series is consistently good. Guilty Gear also has the best fighting game soundtracks ever - no question. I also really dig the soundtrack for Killer7.

Mostly anything by Nobuo Uematsu and Koji Kondo.

And Super Mario RPG.

And Guitar Hero/Rock Band, unless that's cheating.

I agree with everyone's choices. I also love all of the music in Mother 1 - 3, all of the Katamari games, the street fighter series, and Harry Gregson William's work on Metal Gear Solid 2 - 4.

also, all the 16-bit sonic games. 1-3 at the very least.

agreed, I used to have a ton of remixes for sonic songs on my old comp before it crashed.

I got exposed to a ton of bands that I still listen to from the Amped 2 soundtrack.
also, the Gitaroo Man soundtrack was pretty decent, especially the opening theme: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uuKyimVf4Lg
I thought this band was a winner, but I find the rest of their music lacks any sort of depth or variety.

The Guitaroo Man theme song "Soft Machine" is in my top 25 on iTunes. It's a really fun song.

If we're talking older stuff, Mega Man 2 is perhaps the best 8-bit game in terms of music.

Mega Man 3 is MOSTLY ALL awesome songs, most of which I can immediately recall in my head. The opening theme, snake man, spark man, magnet man, top man, shadow man, needle man, those wily stages, the wily boss theme, holy shit. Hardman theme is somewhat stale, but you can't win them all...

I want Anamanaguchi's new album. Overarrow fucking blew my mind.

I love Motoi Sakabura's work on Golden Sun, Tales of Symphonia, Valkyrie Profile and tons of other stuff. He also did the "Menu" theme for Super Smash Bros. Melee that I'm sure we all know.

I've been playing Metal Gear Solid 4 recently (finally, right? It's actually the first MGS I've ever played), and the music is fantastic.

Haha, you're starting with 4? 4 is the one that spoils the whole series.
