The new, revived Boris thread
Hey guys, this is my first 'real' post here and I thought I'd use the opportunity to introduce you all to one of my favorite all-time bands, Boris.
They play music in a wide variety of genres, like doom, sludge, drone, and rock. I guess here I'll post some videos, and if it is allowed, links to download their music.
Boris Live at the Shimokitazawa Shelter - Death Valley
This is from the Black Summer Tour 2003 DVD.
The song is 'Death Valley'. This live version is one of their best "rock'n roll' songs. If you like this, you should check out the rest of their "Heavy Rocks" album. The part from 1:43-2:56 is my favorite from this video.

Boris - Korosu (PV)
More Heavy Rocks stuff! This is sure to be a favorite if you like stuff with a 70's vibe to it. Also some good ol' rock'n roll.

Boris Live at Sacred Trinity Church - Flood (excerpt)
This video is part of the epic-length 1 hour song Flood. This is a very "sleepy" song, and the full song, which encompasses an entire album, is worth checking out. It builds up into a gentle lullaby, and makes you fall asleep, then explodes in a huge tidal wave of sound.

Wow, a one hour song? Jesus Christ. Their stuff's pretty good, though.

I've been trying to find that album with the one-hour song; but I can't seem to find it anywhere.
When I went and saw Electric Eel Shock at Cambridge two years back BORIS was playing in the club next door. Kazuto (the bassist) was telling me how inspiring their music was, and that got me to start listening. I only have their "Pink" album, but I hope to get more of their stuff in the near future.

Which 1 hour song? Absolutego, or Flood?
I've got a download for Flood right here. Will add Absolutego later.

Am I the only one who couldn't sit through an one hour song, or do I just have a short attention span?

Enjoy! This is their longest song, clocking in at about an hour and a half. I don't recommend listening to it for fun, because it gets VERY boring, but if you're just doing some homework or whatever, then it definitely helps to pass the time.

Guys, I just saw Boris on the cover to a magazine at the CD store today. Should I be worried?

No. The only people that should worry are the bands that suck and still sell millions of records.

these guys have a cool sound.
I just gotta get over this problem that I have where I laugh every single time I see a double necked guitar...
I'm uncontrollably amused by the idea of it.

they're playing the Pitchfork Festival at Union Park this year. They're also going on a U.S tour pretty soon.

New album "Smile" hits US stores today! Gonna get it the next time I'm at Newbury Comics.
How many bands does that make that use "Smile" as an album title? I count four now (pillows, L'arc, Brian Wilson, and now Boris).

Re: The new, revived Boris thread
Smile is probably their best recent album, and the best I've heard so far this year.
