Boredoms? The incredibly interesting thing is that three or four of you are going to reply to this thread expressing some level of familiarity with this ensemble. |

I think I've heard the name before, but have never checked them out. ...a quick visit to youtube reveals two things: A) somebody in their band plays the TI-86 and B) this band sucks. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kgwMBXhyp9w |

Apparently at their last NY show they had 77 drummers play with them, and I'm not talking about band camp drumming! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WYwkkdX0 ... re=related |

Yeah, I noticed that. Talk about defining "unnecessary." |

You guys all need a copy of Vision Creation Newsun, as it will shut you the fuck up. The video Mare linked is probably from when the band was doing more of a grindcore thing - heavy, fast guitars and shit tons of screaming and warbling. Which is totally awesome. So I thought that video was great, naturally. They've evolved from that since, though, into something way different. Percussion-based electronic chant music, or something to that extent. It's hard to describe. It's also goddamn fantastic. "77BOARDRUM" is actually a piece arranged for 77 drummers, which is not excessive unless you also hate most modern classical and avant garde. You know, it's just easier to say that you listen almost exclusively to poppy shit, Mare, so I'm probably preaching to the wrong choir here. |

I listen to a wide variety of stuff, and never judge a band off of just one song. I tried a few songs via youtube before passing my judgment, and my judgment was that I didn't like them at all. For the record, I listen to a variety including some metal, classic rock, hardcore punk, electronic, pop punk, pop rock, etc etc. Just because I think this particular band blows doesn't mean I have narrow musical tastes, sorry. Edit: What's up with people coming back from not posting for a while only to totally flip out and bitch at everyone, anyway? It seems to be a rather popular trend. |

It was just shit. Complete and utter shit. Judging from your post, I would guess that Viseon Creation Newsun is shit as well. |

There were a few moments where I could see a young japanese guy frantically trying to release his subconcious frustration for having an isolated childhood. but more or less I'm reminded why I like catchy music with clever and smart lyrics. I sort of understand some noise rock. I probably could if I wanted to. But pretty much it boils down to. I could be happy not understanding it. Probably because it's very visceral, but to me life is visceral enough, I like making music my happy place. |

Super late to the game here, but I did see Boredoms in Portland, and they were amazing. |
