Post The Flaming Lips.
As with most of my music area threads, I doubt anyone will bother in, but most especially in this one. Although doubtful, will I find any fans of the band who have heard things prior to 'Yoshimi Battles The Pink Robots' or 'The Soft Bulletin', or who've enjoyed them at all in any form? Although the more recent music is some of their better work, their previous wildly eclectic nature can be compared to early pillows, and I'd not be entirely surprised if the band listed the Flaming Lips as an influence.

Sorry about that then. I haven't had a lot of time to be around in quite awhile; It's been very hectic. -Bow.- Gomen nasai.

Good band, I bought one of their cd collections, Zaireek. Four cds, and you have to play all four at the same time. Me and a buddy of mine managed to pull together 4 cd players and get them all started at the right time. I believe one of the songs plays a high pitched noise that causes disorientation. The warning on the songs even states to keep infants out of the room while playing.

No offense, but that only SOUNDS like a good idea, when in fact pondered over for more than thirty seconds, is really pointless. It shouldn't be such a hassle to enjoy an album.

It's like going to a 3d IMAX movie, and then finding out you had to buy your own glasses.

4 is a little too much.

Olivia Tremor Control had two songs that were good by themselves and could be played together. Much more feasible.

Noise that may cause disorientation... :|
What the hell is wrong with them? Only album in the entire world that can actually kill an infant.

I'm pretty sure it's a joke.

It's quite true actually. A friend of mine bought it, and to test it out, I went outside the house and did some things long enough for them to listen to each successive piece, and they became more and more distracted and distant with each one, even slightly delirious. As a control, we had one person listen to each piece on headphone CD players seperately and nothing happened other than a little dizziness at times. It can literally be described as an aural drug, as the effects lasted about 15 minutes each of the three times we tried it out. Schoolyardpuck, I believe you miss the point-- It isn't really so much an album as it is something to experience, many of the stranger aspects of sound. It won't actually -kill- an infant, by the way, but many of the pitches can damage their still-developing ears in ways that would have no effect on an adult.

I'm very pleased with their experiments, and the fact that no matter how much the low brow shun them and tell them to simplify, they continue to go on and float here and there, doing anything the very well like.
