Post How many times have you started a band and failed?
Ahh those teenage dreams of ours. A guitar at 10, a band at 14, a rage by 18, a tour by 19..... I have remembered them well and have learned much.
I too am part of the musician's American(or wherever) dream of becoming the best band in the entire world. Where has that gotten me?
Unemployed
Half educated
and living in my parent's house.

Ouch. I think I'll get a college degree before doing anything as risky as starting a band.

Don't set expectations for yourself, because when you don't have expectations you will never become disappointed with yourself in life.

i was invited to practice with a few guys who needed a guitarist when i was a sophomore in high school. They were these crummy hardcore punk band called Sylinder. I ended up just deciding not to stay about three weeks after practicing with them, without doing any lives. I kinda got sick of the overabundance of muddy power chords, idiotic vocals and different names for what sounded like the same got damn song over and over again. The sad thing was how much of an ass the vocalist was. He would try to dictate how each member should play, even though he absolutely sucked at guitar, never sat in front of a drum kit, or picked up a bass in his life.

So yeah...flyin solo for now.

I'm on a verge of possibly starting one but we just have so many differences that I just think we'll fail. First of all, they're a bunch of stoners and we all have a different view on what our music genre should be. I personally think I can't get along with most of them except maybe my neighbor. He's been playing guitar a lot longer than me and already has alot of equipment so I think hes the only person I can rely on. If only he wasn't getting himself stoned everyday.

Atm, I'm in a band called Paraflax right now. :P We have yet to write a song.. -_-; Whenever I want to actually write something, the drummer just goes "NAH LET'S IMPROV" and our bassist will just either do some bassline from a Sublime song or El Scorcho.. and I'm like D: GAH

congratulations ripping off very ape... then the sex pistols though i can't remember the exact song...

i have been in one previous band, people liked us but we broke up because some members graduated and one left to study abroad, is that failing? my current band is still embryonic but we're making progress.

If you're going to try and criticize music, shouldn't you take the time to come up with better references than "some Sex Pistols song" ? And "Very Ape"? Please...

What's "failed?" If you mean not making it onto a label, then quite a few, but that has never been a goal for me yet.

Everything zenkalia hears is a "ripoff" of something. :( Yet he's admitted to not having a very good musical ear, iirc.

Zenkalia is also self-admittedly skinnier than Joyeuse. =o

...I don't know where I'm going with this. Someone else fill in the blank. (lol, irony)

I've only been in one band.

Boarding school does wonders for making a band.
