| Post subject: | Electric just can't do it. |
I've been wanting to buy an acoustic guitar for a while now, I hate having to plug in my electric every time I practice, and then having my amp distort it way too much, but without the distort I can barely hear it. I try to play certain songs, but my electric just can't grasp the feel of an acoustic song. Can anyone suggest some good acoustic guitars that are around $190? |

Solution: - Purchase a distortion pedal, for example, a Boss DS-1 for about $50. - Switch amp to "Clean" channel. No distortion. - Play clean. - When you need distortion, use the pedal. |

Also, invest in a better amp with some reverb or something and better sound quality, it sounds like you have one of those three inch shit amps. |

to solve the distortion problem (unless you have one of those amps Marekenshin mentioned), just turn the volume up half way, and then slowly turn the gain up until you get it as loud as you want it. and if it's still not loud enough, turn the volume up a little more, and then the gain etc as for the acoustic guitar, the best thing to do would be to go to your local music store and play all of the acoustic guitars in your price range and then choose |

I'm pretty sure you're stuff is still Squier stuff. :/ edit: oh, ninja editing, nice. I mean, your guitar surely says Squier, but the newer versions of that pack say Fender on the other stuff. edit 2: squier guitars suck ass and i hate them. |

-ninjaedit- as for acoustic guitars, make sure you get a cutaway acoustic. on my crappy fender DG8 I can't comfortably reach or play anything past the 12th fret. |

On acoustics, make sure it sounds nice and feels good. |

Squiers aren't too bad when you're just starting out. That was my first guitar. But now, as I've been playing my "wetback" Tele for about a year now...the difference is night-and-day. Completely. However, I WILL say that the tuners aren't too bad. It actually stays in tune better than my Tele, despite the fact that the Squier's strings are old as hell. Maybe it's because I suck at stringing my guitar, but...hm. Yeah. For beginners, Squiers aren't too bad at all. And Jagmasters...that's a whole different story. Just ask Pee.

Jagmasters aren't little 100 dollar guitars though. That's why they're decent guitars. My MIJ Telecaster '62 reissue stays in tune amazingly, I only have to give it a quick check and usually it's just if it got pushed out of tune by being leaned against something. |

if you want an acoustic, it's the same as buying any other guitar... don't buy it unless you've played it first. i have a pretty decent washburn that was like $150, so that might not be a bad place to start. |

I used to practice at school on my choir teacher's beat up old Yamaha. It had this very beautiful, bright and clear sound. I've also played a rather nice Gibson with a beautiful, "muddy" sound; the notes of a chord blended together, and it was VERY nice sounding and feeling. |
