I don't like them more than NG, but they're a freakin' good band nonetheless. I've got Daydream Nation, Goo, Murray Street, and Sonic Nurse on my HD. Daydream Nation is probably my favorite, but I haven't had much time to listen the other stuff as much as I'd like.

Actually, by "all of it" I mean I haven't had time to listen to all of the other albums in depth. Of course I've listened to all of DDN.

You guys best be checkin' out Rather Ripped. Pretty good stuff...a bit less abstract, but still solid. "Incinerate" is nice.

But "Kool Thing" from Goo...my god. First Sonic Youth song I've heard...favorite by far. It's so damn awesome. Great riff, Kim Gordon's super beatnik feminist lyrics, plus super deep voice black man. Then more great riff.

Tell you the truth, dirty's pretty ok, but I'm not a huge fan of their grunge stuff. Daydream Nation, Sister, Experimental Jet Set, are good stuff. There's till like 6 albums i have yet to listen to. Goo, Murray Street, and some other ones i can't remember.

I think my favorite Kim Gordon psycho beatnik song might be "Mariah Carey and the Arthur Doyle Hand Cream." It's hard to beat the combination of manic vocals + abrasive noise rock.

Off of that same album, "Dripping Dream" is one of the most oddly catchy SY songs. There's just something about that chorus - "We've been searching for the Cream Dream Wax...

I'll have to try those songs mentioned above, because I have
never been a fan.

I'll put aside the fact they dissed the Pixies on national TV.

FOR NOW.

I keep liking Sonic Youth more and more. Sister torments me to no end - take the incorrigibility of Number Girl's Sappukei, and multiply it fifty times over. The album demands a very, very careful listen which I have yet to give it. Washing Machine is cool, too - I absolutely love The Diamond Sea, though it's hard to stick with it through the whole thing.

If it makes you feel any better, their 1995 album Washing Machine features Kim Deal on the song "Little Trouble Girl."

Just recently started to get into them. As of now I've only got Daydream Nation. :groovin: I especially like Candle. Any advice on what to grab and listen to next?
