 Bloodthirsty Butchers
Great band, and I thought they were shitty at first, but after checking out Banging the Drum, it completely changed my opinion on them.
Could use more Hisako Tabuchi love.

I finally got ahold of Birdy and kocorono, and wow, I was missing out. Much better band than I expected.

I guess I should check them out. I've been so lazy about investigating bands. D:

I really like the song Jack Nicolson, but I wasn't too impressed with Birdy. It's ok, just not really great.

called your mom to ask her what she got you for christmas.
but in all seriousness, it's about time. they're not as talented as NG, but they sound great. Kouya ni Okeru is a good listen, even their earlier punk stuff is interesting. And theres still a lot of shit i havent heard yet. lookin to get my hands on sankaku-2 and their self titled if anyones dug that deep yet.

you know what, i've made a terrible mistake.
i said that they weren't as talented as number girl, and i was wrong. the two bands have two completely different approaches to music.
the butchers rely on imperfections in riffs and rhythm, and thats what gives them their appeal. while mukai relies on tight, complex rhythms, along with alternate tuning to make music.
im gonna go out on a limb and say that Mukai is probably 50 times harder to work with in the studio than yoshimura hideki because of this. it just seems that mukai demands a lot of precision from the members of his band, while yoshimura loosely promotes creativity and experimentation.

Do we know for a fact that Mukai (or Tabuchi or Yoshikane) actually use weird tunings for anything? I've never had much trouble figuring out any Number Girl songs, so I'm just a bit skeptical. I never use a capo either, so it may just be that I'm used to working around it.
