tone is everything
its your life. how do you get yours?
face melting:
bass - 3-4
mid - 6-7
treble - 8-9
presence - 8-9
reverb - 3-4
gain - 9
distortion - 1
distortion level - 4-5
a tiny bit of chorus to smooth things out a little, the tone knobs on a strat dont DO anything, and volume full open (amp and guitar)
not very fuzzy, super sharp. its like getting stabbed with glass, which is a good thing.

I use several different settings on my Peavey Classic 30.
"Searing Grind"
Gain at 12
Mids at 11
Bass between 1 and 3
Treble between 9 and 11
Reverb at 0
"Rhythym/Twangy Clean"
Gain between 5 and 7
Mids between 5 and 7
Bass at 8 or 9
Treble between 7 and 9
Reverb between 0 and 3
Those are my favorites. Though I do lots of different stuff. I don't use effects.

Hmmm...I just stumbled across this one day, and I've kept with it ever since.
MG100HDFX
Gain - 10
OD2
Bass - 5
Mid - 10
Treble - 8
Contour (scoops mid-range) - 0
Epiphone Les Paul
Both pickups, both in parallel, out of phase.
Run it through a Vox V847 Wah, active, pushed all the way down.
Of course, the greatest tone in the world = Eric Johnson.

Oh god... I've got too many things to set the EQ on... I usually like to keep the mids around 7, bass about 8, and treb 6/7. The knobs on the guitars get changed constantly, but usually stay in the 7-10 range.

For me, guitar knobs always stay on 10. The potentiometers really fuck up the tone by cutting parts of the output, making it duller. I prefer to adjust via the amp or some other tone control device.
