Post Neutral Milk Hotel
Just downloaded In the Aeroplane over the Sea and loving it. I know TuffGhost must be a fan here (if only he wasn't banned for goatse :( ).

Any other fans here?

Yeah, I definately dig that album. Haven't listened to On Avery Island as much, though.

I've been consistently impressed by Elephant 6, actually. I love Of Montreal (the Gay Parade is such an incredible album), the Apples In Stereo, and the Olivia Tremor Control, too.

I bought Aeroplane...

It was awesome.

I played it to Quake 1

As monsters were dying.

I love Neutral Milk Hotel, they are so awesome. I like Aeroplane a lot better than Avery Island, and both a lot better than Invent Yourself A Shortcake. Those are the only albums I know about so far though, I'm sure there's probably other great stuff by them. Yeah Ureshii, Apples In Stereo are awesome too. I still haven't heard Olivia Tremor Control yet though.

Download it. Two-Headed Boy is also worth your time.

I uh pretty much adore them. When I first started listening, I didn't like On Avery Island as much eitherrrrr, but see. It's good, just in a different way than Aeroplane is. Give Avery a chance if you get bored with Aeroplane. You'll like it (or else).

(Also, Invent Yourself a Shortcake wasn't actually an album, just a demo tape. A demo tape with the coolest name of any demo tape in history.)

P.S. I'D LIKE TO BE BEST FRIENDS WITH YOUR AVATAR, JOSHER. plsss?

you can't really find anything not good on E6. If you, haven't done already, check out elf power too.

I gave them a listen after soo much praise. One word from me....

MEH.

Did not grab me or captivate me at all. Too folky for my tastes. The only song I kinda liked was "Holland, 1945". I don't know, too much acoustic for me (and I know someone who doesn't agree will requote that replacing "acoustic" with "AWESOMENESS!!1!!!11one!!"). The singer's voice also has no depth. Seemed kinda bland and boring at times and his voice annoyed me to some extent, too. It's not aweful, but it's not incredible either. TO ME AT LEAST.

It's good for those long drives and staring out the window. Holland 1945 is a pretty kick-ass song and Two-Headed Boy Part 2 is just an amazing ending.

I believe the whole album was made out of sympathy for Anne Frank, no?

that was part of it. He wrote a lot of stuff, some of it was about dreams he had.
