 Paul Gilbert
I was just wondering if there were any Paul Gilbert fans out there? That includes his solo work, his work with Racer X, and his work with Mr. Big (who had a very large Japanese fanbase, and Paul is very Japan-oriented as well).
I've been a big fan of all his work for a very long time now. Aside from being a great guitarist with the utmost technical and melodic prowess, he also seems like a very cool and down to earth guy - unlike, perhaps, some other viking shredder...whom Paul is better than...
Discuss.

Any youtube video that results from a search of "Paul Gilbert" is going to be phenomenal anyway. He really seems like the nicest, most fun guitarist around. He's also probably the only famous shredder in existence whose arrogance is in the negatives. In addition, he's the most tasteful shredder I've ever heard. Check out the new poll.

cute, but i still think yngwie is better...
he really does seem like an infintely approachable character too... kind of reminds me of jeff buckley in a way.

Paul wins hands down.
His instructional videos are a lot of fun, unlike Yngwie's which were
just about useless.

I just picked up my June 2007 Guitar World from home, and Paul Gilbert is featured in the magazine's "Tune Ups: Dear Guitar Hero" section. This excites me plenty.

That was the only thing that stood out to me.
