 Clap Your Hands Say Yeah!
Anyone?
I can't stop listening to this album, favorites so far are Heavy Metal and The
Skin of My Yellow Country Teeth.

good stuff.
Details of the War has a slight REM feel but I still hear the
Velvet Underground as much as anything.
They are currently touring with The National, who are also really good.

Actually... you never mentioned Gimmes Some Salt.
At least, I don't think you did.

I heard them for the first time on Late Night with Conan O'Brien last night. They sounded ok except for the lead singer. Does he normally sing without sounding out words and whining in a barely audible level, or was that just last night?

indie rock should die and burn in hell =[
start with catchy pop/rock of the 90's, take out guitar solos, take out guitars at all (in most cases) replace with heavy bass, take out all social relevance (except homo-erotic songs that people see as horribly deep and completely different, when being gay really isn't something special) and replace those relevant lyrics with whiny and/or repetitive vocals... AND YOU'VE GOT INDIE ROCK.

No no, you're thinking about mainstream emo.

emo still has guitars and, from time to time, they have solos. but yes, emo sucks too.
