The Flaming Lips
Ear Candy: what the Flaming Lips are all about. The sounds that come off their CDs are unimaginable. You close your eyes; and as you listen to their songs you stay in a trance of wonder and ecstasy. Also "Yoshimi Battles the Pink Robots" would make an awesome anime (though we may have to wait until after their movie "Christmas on Mars" finally gets released this summer).
I've listened to the first three tracks on their latest CD "At War With the Mystics" in my car. You can just feel the sound circling you as it plays.

the only thing i've ever known (and wanted to know) about the flaming lips is that their producer produced Number Girl's Sappukei album when they came to America. I think he did Destruction Baby as well.

He also produced the NUM-HEAVYMETALLIC album, plus countless other American artists, from Low to Sleater-Kinney to the Delgados.
Yeah, I'm pretty much in love with Dave Fridmann's production style.
Haven't heard the new Lips album. Sincerely doubt it will eclipse The Soft Bulletin and Transmissions from the Satellite Heart.

Well, it's still an excellent album. As have the 2 before it.
