This was pretty cool... I was listening to some songs while I was high on peyote. It was like I found a deeper meaning in the songs. Like some deities were telling me something through the songs... And then this song (Fear of Flying) comes on saying 'don't always look for answers in a song', haha, hilarious. And even more striking were the lyrics "This is your one-way ticket, so don't fuck it up. Your flight is boarding and you are running out of luck". This was prophetic man. The next week I could not board my plane from Mexico to Peru.. because I only had a one way ticket. For entering Peru you need a return ticket or ticket of leave, little did I know! And I was running out of luck too man... I lost my wallet, my phone, and my hiking boots in the same week... all on a different day.

There's a warmth and charm to the vocal work on their music that I think you'd be hard-pressed to find in contemporary artists.

Haha that song title is absolutely genius. Is that your favorite album by them, or does it just happen to have your favorite song? I could give this a listen at work tomorrow or sometime if I remember to, listened to the three tracks you mentioned and I'm not sure if I've heard quite this blend of punk styles before. Seems like something just a bit before/around the same time as the emo scene or something?

Definitely pretty close on my musical tastes, although I'm slightly more in the Brand New camp of sadboy music as punk goes.

Ah, yeah. Brand New is great.

It might be weird but I don't always listen to whole albums, even if I love the songs I've heard. So it's just random songs here and there.

as long as we're talkin about dont look back in anger, do y'all think the one life video suggests that the pillows were aware of the song's similarity to dlbia? the glasses, the chair, sawao's zip-up jacket which totally looks like something liam gallagher would wear...y'all have probably raised this before elsewhere in these forums but just wondering if y'all agree...

Sawao wears his influences and inspirations on his sleeve proudly and is known for making very blatant nods to other musicians as opposed to making it subtle or worrying about something being too close to the song that inspired him. I'm of the opinion that it was quite purposeful and consciously done.

I hadn't heard the Oasis song before, but Sato's drum pattern in One Life is almost identical to what Alan White is playing. I agree that the nods are quite purposeful and consciously done. After all, "imitation is the sincerest form of flattery", as that old saying goes...
