About a year ago I arranged the Elfen Lied theme song and performed it for this school club concert at my old college. It was filmed, and posted on youtube.

It now has over 3,000 views. I'm famous!
That sounds pretty good under the recording circumstances. I'd like to hear what these songs would sound like in a legit studio. 8)
thanks dude, we're getting our recording together to make a decent quality demo, we have some good equipment, but not a legit studio by a long shot. It's awesome to hear people see potential in the poor version.

Played a show at one of the eating clubs along with two other bands (one of whom has been playing around the Philly and NYC area a lot lately), here's a recording of the last track of our set. A little rushed, and my vox were starting to die, but this is one of my favorites of my newer songs (started it last summer, then set it aside for a while and finished it in the fall).

Everyone's stuff sounds really great. I haven't been on these boards in forever, but my band just recorded a new single and I wanted to throw it at y'all.<3

Musically, this sounds very solid. I think the production could use some work though, particularly in terms of vocal sound. If you wanted to keep the current sound, I would recommend layering in a few more extra takes of it so that you can REALLY get that sort of "chorus of people singing together" sound, which would milk the effects more. This song seems like a mix of MGMT and Modest Mouse or something to me, but not in a bad way.

Biggest suggestion I can make is to not do the layered vox all the way through, though. I think the perfect place to stop would be at "A thousand paper cranes," where it would sound great to have just a singular vocal line soaring through, followed by a different singular voice at "But Jack," then back to you again for "But times are moving fast." After that, you could take the chorus of vocals thing and put it in that final part, but as background stuff so you still have that singular voice soaring through. Personally, I think that would make the song feel much stronger, and it would also give it a greater range of dynamics.

Five live tracks from the show I played Friday night, including two of our newest songs. Feedback is appreciated. ;D

Can't say too much about it since I can't hear the vocals too well, but I like the sound.

Thanks! Yeah, the vox are a bit low, especially on that first one. They got turned up a bit for the second half of the set, which the other four are from.

Pretty cool, I dig some songs you've played live.
It might be just a coincidence, but one of your songs reminds me of Konayuki by AKG. I'm not sure if they have any influence on your music, but yeah. Other than that, I also hear pillows/Number Girl influences on some of your songs, which is pretty cool too.

Watching these videos makes me wish I was in a band. :( Unfortunately, I'm still taking guitar lessons and have to take a GED test, so I can get into college.

the pillows, Supercar, Ajikan, Art-School, Ellegarden, and Number Girl are all pretty heavy influences, I think. I definitely got the whole "palm muted verse, unmuted" chorus thing some of my songs have going on from Ajikan and the pillows, haha.

I've only heard one song from Supercar, which was cream soda. I know I suck, but I'm not a fan of the shoegaze genre. I've listened to AKG before, I like their sound, but I haven't given much thought about it, other than their indie EPs. I've heard of Art-School, fan of their EPs not so much for their albums though. I'm familiar with Ellegarden, but I couldn't get into them, however Bring You Board was sweet. I've listened to Number Girl before, but I had hard time getting to them too, but they did had few songs and so that kept me interested.

I've recorded several stuff in the past, however I've never been serious with it. I don't seem to remember the chord progressions for them to even rerecord the material as I was improvising on the fretboard to create my own chord progressions, which probably weren't actual chords to begin with. but a few were pretty interesting IMO. The rest are just basically pillows and Penpals covers that I messed around with. I'm currently working on a song, so far it's going the britpop-esque direction  , got the chorus going but still missing the verse and intros.

Right now, I only seem to be heavy influenced by the pillows, but I'm also influenced by The Beatles, Oasis, T.Rex, and Mega City Four. Yeah, I would like to form a britpop-esque band some day.

Sorry if this post went the TL;DR path, but I wanted to be more sociable about life than I was in the past, especially in something I've found interest in. 8)

Solid set of influences. You mention a Brit-pop sound, do you mean a more modern one, or more like old-school britpop a la the Smiths and such?

The Smiths weren't part of the britpop movement, they formed in 1982 the movement began in the early 90's. However, The Smiths did have a big influenced on britpop bands, especially Oasis, so I guess so.

When I mentioned a britpop sound, I was thinking in the lines of Oasis, but now I'm not so sure.

EDIT: Actually, I meant Ellegarden, because it reminds me of the chorus to their song Santa Claus. Nothing to do with britpop after all

So, Sclone and I may or may not have decided to team up in the studio, forming an unstoppable musical monster. More on this later, kiddies.
