Hm--I can't say I've ever laughed at the announcement of anyone's death, but I wouldn't judge you for it. For me, I felt a little surprised (young age, etc.), but largely unfazed.

However, I must say that, watching all the purple dance parties, events and tributes and whatnot unfold, I was really surprised (impressed, even) at the response. Somehow, in my mind, it seems almost beautiful how people have reacted. I can't really say why. I wonder if there will be as much ado when Dylan goes? (Pardon me if my tone seems at all disrespectful-- I'm really just wondering)

I just thought that was funny, on the surface. Not the death itself. I was sad to hear about Prince, even though I never got into his music.

Yeah, it's more the humor of how strangers are mourning by the droves and then we hear about a guy who met and worked with him who doesn't seem to care and thinks the guy's kind of a dick.

Nice bit of perspective. Not that his opinion of Prince is "more true" than the opinions of people hurt by the loss, just a good reminder that people are complicated.

There was a genius line in "Attack on Titan" that has really stuck with me - there are no good people, only people who are good to us.

Anyway, what I'm listening to... Scott Bradlee's Postmodern Jukebox. Basically a cover band, with rotating musicians and singers, but they cover (mostly pop) songs in old styles. Some covers are better than others, but they seem to be getting better.

People be complex and mostly good deep down, as usual. It's really interesting how we get such different impressions of people based on the contexts in which we find them and ourselves.
