What do you guys do to copyright your songs?
Technically you don't really have to do anything. The work is copyrighted as soon as you record or notate it in sheet music.

http://www.copyright.gov/help/faq/faq-g ... tml#mywork

The bigger problem is when you want to enter into litigation over copyright infringement. At some point when you have something to lose, then you may wish to register your copyright (which costs money), which makes it easier to deal with infringement issues. I'm sure there are finer points involved, definitely do further research if you are really concerned.

I record shit and place it in my dropbox for my own personal files, post it on soundcloud for band recordings. This way there's a date associated with the file upload as well as the file creation date on my computer, ample evidence should anything ever happen (lol unlikely).

My pastor and myself improv jammin' on acoustic guitar (plus another friend on the, uh, percussion? Hah.) You can't see much, but I'm playing the steel string lead part.

Yeah (playing a lead written by Sheer and myself, except for the bridge...for some reason he never memorized any of the bridges), and the other song we posted has Sheer playing lead.

Uh. I tried to play lead. After spontaneously rehearsing the song three times. On someone else's guitar. After having not touched my own for over a year or so.

I think I failed.

You still did a way better job than John (the other guitarist) despite that. And I made a not of the fact that you got zero practice before rocking it in the vid description when I put it up, because I wouldn't want people to incorrectly think you don't DESTROY when you've been in practice. :shred:

I thought the drums sounded more off than anything else. Why'd you stop playing Sheer - not enough time to devote to guitar? And what gear do you play normally anyway? I don't remember seeing you post your stuff in the guitar thread.

lol the kick is clearly getting distorted in the camera's mic, the drummer played quite well (though a little quickly on some songs).

I have enough time to play the guitar, but not enough time to do anything with it. So I suppose I just never had the desire to play for the sake of maintaining my chops. I do enjoy songwriting, but I have not been inspired to do so for a while.

My guitar is an Epiphone Les Paul with Gibson 496R and 500T ceramic pickups wired for series/parallel and phase switching via push/pull pots.

He was a little off in couple of his fills, but other than that, the drumming was rock solid.

Also, cool song Mare/Sheer. :)
