Blink 182 - Josie

I got Enema of the State as a present when I was in sixth grade and I really liked it, but I never really listened to anything else by them, so recently I started looking up some of their youtube videos. I didn't really like my life back when Blink 182 was popular, so I can't say it's nostalgia, but I really like their music for some reason, even though I know it's kinda...shallow? I dunno, some songs like Adam's Song are pretty deep, but there's just something about Blink 182 that makes it so I can't fall in love with the band. It feels too "American Pie" to me. I like their song "Dammit," but even today when I hear it I'm kinda like, "Oh GOD, not this song AGAIN." I'm still tired of hearing it as like the 90s/00s anthem of high school stupidity, and I've never been about that shit.

Enema, Take off, and s/t are all great albums (particularly Take off). It's not deep lyrically for the most part, though there are a handful with some real emotional weight (moreso on the s/t than the other to tbh), but the harmonies. My god, the harmonies. Blink-182 is so good at genius harmonic interplay and strong melodies that it makes them impossible to really hate, despite their shortcomings, or at least in my book.

You pretty much summed up my feelings about them. Too "American Pie", that's a great description. I've got friends whose favorite band is Blink 182. I just can't go there. But I do really enjoy some of their music. I bought Enema of the State about 5 years ago at Half Price Books for like a dollar.
