Re: What are you currently listening to?
Folding laundry, I listened to Autosalvage for the first time in quite some time. It sounded very nice: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GY6KVmx4E8UDoes anyone have any psych recommendations to give me? I'd love to hear them.

Downy's latest album was pretty psychedelic and badass: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ydy9xpvA1P8

Regarding psych still, Flaming Lips' most recent album, The Terror, was sick. Just checked out Yo La Tengo's "And Then Nothing Turned Itself Inside Out," which is also amazing and a bit more upbeat on several of the tracks.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6hiWeClAk4g
I sincerely tried, but I don't think that I, a mere mortal plebeian, have the intellectual capacity to fully appreciate this kind of boundary-pushing avante-garde music. ...or there's some kind of huge joke here that I'm just not picking up on.

He sounds like my neighbor practicing for his "noise rock" band. Maybe he was just ahead of his time. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2PpAG8gTURw

Now I'm on a Tyrnaround kick: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XTYCCE5kILkhttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=T1f8_ZkVUBcThese ones are really Syd Barrett-y and/or Beatlesy, but they also have some poppier stuff has that sort of jangly 80s sound to it. It's fun.
Alright, I've got some other recs that I've been putting off that I can go through first, but I'm interested in hearing what ends up sticking out to you when you notice something cool that you'd toss at people.
I recently downloaded a Buzzcocks album: Singles Going Steady. Makes me wonder if they were an inspiration for Mineta. My favorite song (I listened to before I rediscovered them) was Whatever Happened To? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5UCVmNb05RwHere's another good song, Love You More https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cXFgRKRndfcHonestly, a lot of their stuff is fucking solid, and since it never really got a lot of popularity in the States, it's really refreshing if you're into rock/early punk because it's new to the ears. EDIT: Why Can't I Touch It? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=g3qsjfOX6GoSuch a catchy tune.

Re: What are you currently listening to?
The new AKFG album is pretty ace. They recorded it in the Foo Fighters 606 studio, and I can definitely hear some Foos influence in their single Easter.

Thanks for the links, I guess I'll snag the singles comp and then dive into albums based on those or something. MyFoot, totally agreed. I thought the previous album was something of a return to form, but this one IS a return to form for them, I really like the direction they took. Knew the album was going to be good when I first heard Opera Glasses and noticed how sick the song structure was. Also, the new Geek Sleep Sheep (drums from L'arc, bass/vox from Ling, and guitar/vox from Mo'some, quite the badass combination) is really good: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JX2Kv4y33oA (<- pumped up version of the Nonfiction PV basically)

Re: What are you currently listening to?
I just listened to Easter. I kind of like it, but his voice is so lacking in enthusiasm. The intensity of voice is part of what made their earlier stuff so good.

I really miss the angry shouty Gotoh vocals a lot, but I do recognize that his voice is going to last him much longer with much better quality the way he's been singing these days. Would be nice to have more edge to the sound, but I'd also rather have new Ajikan regularly as opposed to see them go on hiatus like ART-SCHOOL just did (presumably because of Riki's voice dying from singing outside his range with poor technique/drinking and smoking up a storm).
