Re: Collecting music on vinyl
With the resurgence of vinyl in Japan, I feel like Cowboy Bebop on wax is only a matter of time. If not Flying Dog or some other Japanese label, then perhaps Milan or WRWTFWW will give it a shot in the near future, since they both reissued legendary anime soundtracks on vinyl last year (the former did Akira, and the latter Ghost in the Shell).
The thing Spike said about Flying Dog holding back an individual vinyl release sounds promising.

Re: Collecting music on vinyl
Flying Dog is the sole rights holder, so anyone wanting to produce an official release would have to go through them just like Funimation who was only granted limited use of the material. For example, the "WRWTFWW" release of the GITS soundtrack was licensed through Sony, but only for a European release. Fans elsewhere can import it of course but even that deal had restrictions in allowing it to get made, and as I understand it was only done due to the fact that Sony has seperate regional licensing deals.
