Wow, someone else repping David Bazan. Good list L_H... Pedro the Lion truly is awesome, my favorites include Indian Summer and Rapture. Here's my list, in no order, and liable to change, but I have my core favorites bolded, likely to never change. The Beatles the pillows Bob Marley/The Wailers AKFG Tokyo Police Club Arctic Monkeys Karate Banda Los Recoditos Minus the Bear Death Cab For Cutie

I was just listening to Rapture earlier today, in fact. It's a shame David Bazan isn't more famous. He's been producing quality music under numerous monikers over the past 15 years or so. It blows my mind that he hasn't gained wider recognition.

Indeed, I like his other project too, post PTL, however the name escapes me at the moment...Headphones maybe? His voice is really great and the guitar work is fun. EDIT: Just going to drop these links right here because as I reread my list, I realized more people need to know Karate. Crazy good jazz/fusion. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=opDlJZ5k ... re=relatedhttp://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OkCiHB8Y ... re=relatedhttp://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MbB2yjJg ... re=related

Yeah, I used to have it on my computer but don't know where it went to...I remember when it came out I was like "This guy can't make a bad song."

Re: Your top 10 favorite artists
At the top I'd say: the pillows HIGH and MIGHTY COLOR Pink Floyd The Beatles Muse Red Hot Chili Peppers
Then we'll throw in some people that are primarily composers: Nobuo Uematsu (The Black Mages included) Yoko Kanno Toshihiko Sahashi
And then a few more favorites to bring the total to well over 10: Led Zeppelin Mika Nakashima Jinn Jimi Hendrix
I'll hold off on honorable mentions, as I'd probably end up at about 50.

The Big O soundtrack is probably my favorite soundtrack to anything, ever. It's absolutely brilliant.
I haven't heard anything else he's composed that I'm aware of, but just for his work on Big O, I'd be inclined to add him to my list.

The Big O OST incorporates a lot of the facets of his general "sound", but there's no other singular work he's composed that's quite like it because of all the retro tv/films that influenced the soundtrack. There's also a lot of great stuff Gundam Seed/Seed Destiny OSTs. The best examples from that would certainly be from the two albums of that music he arranged for the London Symphony Orchestra; http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hl7JfQxDnU4http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JkXZc0F9Wdg

Re: Your top 10 favorite artists
Look like I posted two years ago. w/e. It's a hard challenge, because...there are bands that you love a ton right NOW (and may be your "favorite") and then there are bands that you've loved ever since you started listening to music.
If forced at gunpoint, which I'm imagining now, the awards would go like this: Legacy: the pillows Basement Jaxx Bis Yoko Kanno Number Girl + older Zazen Boys Tokyo Jihen
Currenty in love with: Jens Lekman Mother Mother
One-album Heroes Death From Above 1979 The Pipettes
Super-solid standbys: Neko Case Yeah Yeah Yeahs Belle & Sebastian Joe Hisaishi: Joe Hisaishi
You take any part away and you're missing a huge part of my musical taste and development. Also, Sparta Locals. Throw them in somewhere.
