Manabe has so many pedals and little gadgets, I'd imagine it'd be extremely hard to tell the difference between Bob and his now trademark Mustang when it's being run through so much stuff.

I have no clue.
Culen, what the hell is Bob? Do you mean Manabe's Les Paul special knock off?
EDIT:

That's the exact point I was trying to make. If you can get your sound however you want, why not use your most comfortable guitar?

Bob is Manabe's real-deal Gibson Les Paul Jr.
Bob Marley played the same model LP for most of his career. Hence the nickname.

kyoko, you are correct about the guitars in hoover's ooover. but i did see one picture on their website where she was using a telecaster (upside down and restrung cuz she's left hand ). and yes, jazzmasters are sexy.
culen is right about the sound. he can get whatever sound he wants from any guitar because of the pedals. you'd have to have a really well trained ear to figure out if he's using the Paul or the 'stang.
it's impossilbe that manabe used the mustang on Bivouac. honeslty,if he did, don't you think we would have seen it in the Rush video? we would have seen it in the ROSS video as well....and like culen said, its almost impossible to distinguish the sound of the mustang anywhere on that album.
next time i go to GC, i will try out both the thinline and the soild body teles. or just about any fender guitar that i think will look, sound, feel and be priced cool.

it really comes down to what sort of music you want to play. i dig the tele sound, but it (generally - dont jump down my throat) sounds much twangier. and besides, strats are one of the most versatile and solid guitars you can get. if you arent that good yet.. id go with the most versatile of the bunch - itll still hold up no matter how your skill and musical styles change.
i have a black fender stratocaster. i make love with it every day.

yeah, tele's are twangy. its the whole country music thing.
i really love the strat. but i mean everyone in the world has one. it doesn't matter if its a shitty affinty squire strat or the MIM standard-everyone has one. and the majory are in black. i really dig the strat. i love the way it looks and i love the sound. but i want to separte my self from that crowd.
and jomei, jazzmasters and jaguars are 1400 at musicians friend.
hmm....i love the design of those guitars.....

hehe.. then get a gibson SG. bad-ass look, fat sound. knock-off sgs are almost as common as knock-off strats, too.

SGs are expensive. well i think just as much as jazzmasters/jaguars. eh...i don't know. i like the hum from single coils. it makes the guitar more punk rock. but then again, there is the one with P-90's. but i like fender better. i love the designs. very california...

Not to mention the fact there's a picture of Manabe in the recording studio with a Mustang by his side in the fucking Happy Bivouac CD booklet. Go ahead and ask somebody to take a picture for you, because my camera is being a big whore. Trust me though, it's there. As such, eat humble pie plz.
