 Re: Coldplay
I guess I can see your point. Electronic music is pretty restricted in a live domain, I'll agree. However, one can easily appreciate its compositional virtues in the studio. I think we're just used to musicians (like Coldplay) piling shit over shit, but there really is a time and a place. At its most basic level, a synthesizer is part of electronic music, and I think that it's just as valid an instrument (especially with modern technology) as any other.

 Re: Coldplay
I love synths. They're amazing if they're used effectively and purposefully.

 Re: Coldplay
I love synthesizers too. And songs about synthesizers. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cnsq9XtpmEkJust as long as we are on the same page. Anyway, after further analysis, it seems pretty obvious that Satch's "If I Could Fly" and Coldplay's "Viva La Vida" are irreconcilably similar, in melody, chord progression, and cadence - the only notable difference is instrumentation, which is as minor a difference as is possible. No jury can reasonably side with Coldplay on this one, regardless of allegiance. Sure, I openly admire Joe Satriani, as one of the greatest and most creative guitarists and musicians ever, and I openly despise Coldplay, as a bunch of worthless hacks. However, after an objective analysis, my subjective views don't even need to come in to play to make such an obvious conclusion.

It's pretty nice, isn't it?
And now, on most videos, you can watch them in hi-def. It just takes longer to load.

 Re: Coldplay
Oh jesus christ, did you actually listen to the song? It's not THAT bad. Label it "boring" or "passable" or "OK background music," but the harshness is really just...not deserved. in all honesty, if I had to listen to this song, or Hello, Welcome to Bubbletown's Happy Zoo for the rest of my life...I'd choose the Coldplay. And I don't say Happy Zoo makes me want to stab screwdrivers in my ears.

 Re: Coldplay
Agreed. I wouldn't be able to take Bubbletown for longer than an hour on loop. @_@
By the way guys, this song used to be an instrumental, but they added lyrics to it, hence the "II."

 Re: Coldplay
i've no problem with the majority of their stuff, it's pretty.. inoffensive.
their their overplayed singles are ear-stab-worthy though.

 Re: Coldplay
Ahhh, the video is out now! God damn, that was hilarious. Great, great, music video. I know that we don't like to overpraise bands that don't deserve it here or anything, but this is a FANTASTIC piece of work. Easily one of the best I've ever seen.
