the new single was actually announced about a month ago, and i've had the live Blu-ray on pre-order since Jan. expecting the latter in the mail tomorrow (and yes, there will be rips ).

glad Mineta is finally releasing new music as GNB; i was worried he was just gonna play solo acoustic shows forever without any new material. still, i think he should have started a new project under a different name because it's just not GNB without Chin, Abiko and Murai (hoping they come back one day; apparently Chin lives on a vegetable farm now?)

Wavered on getting the Hikari no Naka ni Tatteitene cassette tape. Kind of want it as a novelty, but it was 2000 yen, I was already spending a lot that day, and I don't have a means of playing it here.

fair enough to skip a novelty, albeit a very nice one. why not the [i]beach[/i] cassette though?

Wasn't a big fan, whereas I thought Hikari ni-- was a goddamn masterpiece. Aside from the Ahondara cover, I don't touch Beach that much.

awesome to hear that you love the hikari album so much. personally i really love how crazy beach is, but ive met people who think its abysmal.

btw mineta just posted a pic with murai on his instagram; makes me all warm and fuzzy to see them together again

Recent Ging Nang production has been hit and miss for me, but the songwriting never fails to sit in its own category of crazy genius.

any particular complaints about the production on the Hikari album? thought it was squeaky clean, for better or worse (better, imo). of course we all know what Beach's production was like, again for better or worse.

finally got around to watching my Love Hell blu-ray and it's pretty stunning. so many great moments, like the hip hop version of Nipponjin, some new songs (a Mineta solo song and the new GNB single), I Don't Wanna Die live (yes, the dancey synth "Forever" version!), Poadamu, Boys on the Run, Berochu, Classroom Blue Tears, the Ahondara cover, and Yume de Aetera which was disappointingly played slower than on the album but was still beautiful nonetheless. gotta say the quality is also perfect; thought the Rising Run Rock Fest footage would just be an upscale of the TV broadcast like the Blu-ray reissues of old Pillows DVDs, but it's really insanely clear.

I'll be picking my copy up tomorrow. Work today and, sadly, the building that housed Tower Records in my city closed, so I'll have to wait an extra day for Amazon to drop it off at Family Mart near my workplace.

Anyway, I think Mineta did a pretty good job with this song, but I do hope he'll put something other than one of these self-indulgent epic ballads out soon.

Agreed, but MY GOD "Ikitai" is beautiful. The acoustic version on the [i]Love Hell[/i] DVD/Blu-ray didn't have me that excited but wow, I'm floored on first listen. Hopefully it holds up after repeat listens but so far...I'm at a loss for words...

Pretty solid builds, I didn't notice how long it was until the transition at like 9 minutes. Enjoyed it, takes a lot of work to make a ballad of that length...work.
