and Kentaro Nakao of Number Girl fame played bass.
You mean that little bitch responsible for their break-up?
Nakao has band cancer. Goddammit, I'll miss you, ART-SCHOOL. Either he destroys them or they kick him out, but I'm worried that even being on support is enough to taint them with his curse.

Re: What are you currently listening to?
Weirdly enough, he sounds better than ever here. The very first thing you hear is his thundering, distorted bass. I always felt he was pretty dispensable in Number Girl, so it's interesting to hear him cut loose here. The drummer (dude from Mo'Some Tonebender) also sounds pretty good.

Re: What are you currently listening to?
Definitely a fantastic album all around, though there was a bit too much lazy chorus lyric-writing for my tastes.

Re: What are you currently listening to?
So Nakao joining Art-School is a new thing right? I've been getting back into them recently, especially the Scarlet EP.

Re: What are you currently listening to?
It may be just a live support/recording thing, but who knows.

Re: What are you currently listening to?
Currently listening to 'The Field Mice.' I don't know if anyone of you know them. "in retrospect the Field Mice now seem like the missing link between the Smiths and Belle & Sebastian" I don't know about that, but some songs have a similar sound as White Incarnation. Here some links to check them out: Emma's house: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sIppK6kDCUMIt isn't forever: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-FwYsZEaFZU (this one I really like, listen to it all to the end) oh, and here's another song, 'Canada' quite catchy and upbeat: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nBM19HS8lj8

Re: What are you currently listening to?
Green Day's new album. They're going for more of a 60's sound on this one.

This one sounds a lot like the pillows/The Predators: Stop When The Red Lights Flash

Re: What are you currently listening to?
Picked up some old favorites for cheap at Book Off and Amazon Japan Marketplace. Cruyff In The Bedroom - Hikarihimawari The Band Apart - Quake And Brook Number Girl - Sappukei Go!Go!7188 - Tategami The Cruyff album's probably my favorite out of this bunch. It's one of the best shoegaze albums ever, and certain forum members who've been known to bitch about the idiosyncrasies of shoegaze ought to check it out because it features clean, clear vocals, awesome guitar melodies, diverse songwriting, and probably the best drumming of any shoegaze record I've ever heard. Too bad he left the band a few years ago.

I HEARD WHAT YOU SAID.
Maybe I'll take a look sometime, but it's not really bitching to simply state that you don't enjoy music where the vocals are drowned in thirty thousand layers of reverb and effects to make them inaudible.
