Just got back from the Dressy Bessy show. It's nice to see them out again after quite a few years. It's the kind of music that can cheer me up a bit, very sugary. Spoke with Tammy--she is a sweetheart. Told me I was a good dancer.

Have you ever seen Cloud Cult before? I saw them twice in outdoor settings here. If they're still performing in the same way, their shows are nice because while listening to the music you are also able to watch the process paintings being created. I hope they still do that!

Never seen them before! I just got into them a few months ago, but they jumped right up into my favorites almost immediately. Minowa's songwriting and lyrics are inspired and inspiring.

Apparently they were considering doing something paired with the short film they did for the Seeker, but decided that they'd rather do a "classic Cloud Cult show" with the full experience and paintings and stuff, play songs from across the whole catalog and just the selections from the Seeker that work well with the touring band. I am beyond pumped for it.

Seeing Tancred tonight. Might leave before Foxing plays (headliner) due to sore spines, we'll see how the evening goes.

All that. He has several costume changes, themed to each song (except for the medleys), and sometimes the band dresses up a bit too. He was an octopus for 'Perform This Way', a gangster (on a segway, of course) for 'White and Nerdy', in a fat costume for 'Fat', etc. He did a lot of his most popular songs, and several of the newest songs. During some of the costume change breaks, there are funny videos with him fake interviewing celebrities, and other random stuff I can't remember. At one point he got out into the crowd and started serenading people and getting in their faces. There was a video screen sometimes with the corresponding music video playing, or just other background stuff. He brings out the local 501st members on stage for Yoda and the other Star Wars song (The Saga Begins). He's very expressive and a great performer.

Ugh, Cloud Cult was beyond incredible. One of the best concerts of my life, quite easily. Tears were shed, friends were made, life was lived to the fullest.

Saw Tokyo Police Club last night for the third or fourth time...still a great show. Good vibes were had, they played a lot of their first EP was a treat as I'm not as big a fan of their more recent work. They also played a ton of Champ which is their magnum opus. The early tracks really brought me back to high school, I got some major frisson. And their encore was a song that I've never heard live, that they don't really play often, so that was a mega treat. Also, got a set list.

Trying to find some tickets for Mac Demarco with King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard next month, and also Tame Impala with Dungen this summer.

I just got a ticket for Guided by Voices in the summer, neat. I hope they don't decide to break up again before then.

Thrice absolutely crushed it last night. Went by myself, since my friend who I bought a ticket for ended up unable to get work off and the wife was too busy with schoolwork so that we can go to some stuff today/tomorrow (including a different show haha), which was actually perfect for this because hey, it's Thrice, and I'm gonna get all up in that pit as much as my body can freaking take.

Which was really only a handful of songs, as it turns out. I'm definitely not in as good of cardio shape or as young as I used to be, lols. Hotelier playing an acoustic show is up next, tonight!
