Re: Number Girl
What made you buy that pedal, does he use one himself or something? I can barely find any info about it and there's only two videos on youtube, although none of them are the same model as yours. I just can't fathom buying a 200$ pedal completely blind. I mean, if he uses that pedal and you want to emulate his rig then ok that's one thing.
I just hope you're happy with it.

Re: Number Girl
Well, it's pretty hard to get your hands on an obscure boutique pedal that's hand-wired in God knows where and sold in a grand total of three different dealers in America that are just as obscure. If I dislike it I can always return the damned thing. Also, I'm not going by his pedals, but of his general sound and the knowledge of his amp. I spent roughly a week researching different Vox emulators, and my understanding of the general consensus was that the TBIAC is superior. Out of curiosity, why are you worrying yourself over such a trivial issue that doesn't even involve you? I try not to take anything seriously on this forum, because if I did I would not like it here very much at all. As such, my past posts on the matter were obviously written in a joking manner, like most everything I 'contribute', however you proceeded to 'put your serious pants on' and try to make me look/feel like an idiot. If you must hear my ill-conceived logic on my purchase, it is this: while most hand-wired boutique pedals come and go out of production, without notice much of the time, cheap Fender guitars will be around forever. At least until late 2012, anyway.

Re: Number Girl
It matters little to me what you spend your money on, you bought a pedal that cost more than your guitar which you were just complaining about in the gear thread, I was only attempting to offer some advice which may or may not end up saving you time/money.
FYI, when you post shit on the internet people are going to read it and or question it.

Re: Number Girl
If you want to get Mukai's sound, you're going to need a Telecaster, as he uses that most of the time and they have a very unique guitar tone.

Re: Number Girl
I actually get fairly close with my LP in the middle position.

Re: Number Girl
Maybe to some songs, some sounds, but that's a given with ANY guitar. You can always approximate a certain range of sounds, but if Mukai's overall sound is what you want rather than the guitar on a few specific songs, you're not going to be able to really nail his sounds without either a lot of pedals to change up your tone or a Tele.

Re: Number Girl
Pedals don't play a big part in Mukai's sound. A Telecaster on the middle pickup position into a Vox AC30 (preferably Top Boost) will get you 99% there.

Re: Number Girl
Vox AC4TV. I like it a lot, but I wish it had a three knob tone control.. or at least two.

Re: Number Girl
Pedal finally came in yesterday. It sounds amazing with my Tokai Distortion and Blues Driver. It's hard to find a bad tone with it turned on. Also, it has a fucking purple LED.

This. Also, you guys gotta hear the tone on my Telecaster's middle position. I botched the wiring when I installed my bridge pickup, so now the middle position sounds TOTALLY nasal, out of phase, whatever the hell. It's kinda funny. TYMT says I should keep it the way it is cause it's so unique. Instead of "Mukai" I get "squownk squownk squownk"
