Yeah, but you say that as a rabid NG fan, so your bias is clear. I always found Number Girl pretty hit and miss, so I actually prefer Mass overall.

Yyyyyyyyyyup. I think they appeal to a totally different area than NG does.

I tend to agree with Mare on the quality of MOTFD's songwriting. But songs like IF a surfer and Highlight are clearly inspired by NG's rhythmic stomp, which I like. I wouldn't say they were on the same level, though.

I believe it was Bob Vielma's review on Keikaku that was responsible for hyping this band up to unrealistic levels. I still can't believe he actually calls this band "post-punk." Interpol or Bloc Party or Lillies And Remains are post-punk. This ain't.

I've never particularly cared for Keikaku's reviews. They're just as silly as Pitchfork most of the time, from what I've read.

Never saw that review and don't feel like reading it now. I just stumbled upon them on YouTube and liked what I heard.

Same. I don't give a shit if they:
A. Try to be NG
B. Aren't as good as NG
C. Are overhyped
D. All of the above

They fucking rock.
