I have a confession to make: I hate the blues too.
Seriously though, I've been listening to Skip James some more latley.
I'm really liking "Look Down the Road" and "Devil Got My Woman".

there's a local bluse association where i live (my aunt and uncle actually do most of the work for it).
anyways, they have a one day blues festival once a year. Last year they had a blues revue called 'Howlin' for Hubert'
Hubert Sumlin on guitarAND David Johannson singing. it was so fucking cool to see two musical icons of such different styles on stage together.
for those who don't know, David Johannson was the lead singer of the 'New York Dolls'.

That is so fucking cool. David Johansen was an amazing front man and singer. The Dolls were definitely a different style but you can still here the blues influence in their sound. They occasionally blended blues harmonica with punk, and they even covered "Hootchie Cootchie Man". In Johansen's solo career he experimented a lot with folk and blues, so it is cool he played with Hubert Sumlin, who was such an influential guitarist.

I keep hearing about that too, but since Led Zeppelin disbanded I'm going for the next best option..
Dread Zeppelin!
It's a tribute band fronted by Elvis covering Zep songs in reggae.
Now I'll have something interesting to say about my first conert.

Anybody displyed in any of the rock n roll hall of fame was amzing and it was pretty much all blues. I wish people were alive that could still sing and the blues as good as they use to.

There are plenty of great bluesmen still alive. There are many who have yet to be discovered, just keep your ear to the ground and don't get depressed.
Since this topic has been bumped up, what are people listening to lately?
Junior wells, David Honeyboy Edwards.
Mostly I've been obsessed with Paul Butterfield. God I love east west. And could pig boy crabshaw be any sexier? Someone go listen to those albums now.

What's not to love?
my favorites:
paul butterfield
billy branch
little walter
john mayall
charlie musslewhite
I've heard a lot of good things about snooky pryor. I'm not ready to form an opinion about him yet, but he reminds me of little walter.

I've also heard that Robert Plant wasn't the greatest performer live. And I'm a Zeppelin fan.
