I would also like to add that I find your posts extremely rude and obnoxious, and that I intend to ignore any posts that you may make in the future of this topic, unless you would like to discuss this without the insults and your constant blatant lack of civility.

Wah, cry about it. People post rude things to you while owning your ass in an argument, so you decide to ignore the points they're correctly making just because you don't like them calling you a moron for not having a point to your argument. Very mature.

You've been rude in this thread too (to an extent), so just stop whining about it.

I'm not trying to debate you anymore, it's ridiculous to even try to argue with someone who defines taste and music history and is being a complete troll.

I am rude and obnoxious, but you're a dumbass. I'll take the former any day of the week, since you're obviously willing to take the latter.

I already tried to discuss this with civility, but you proved beyond a shadow of a doubt that you can't do that competently.

<== Never even mentioned taste, let alone tried to argue or define it.

<== Knows his music history far better than you can even hope to, judging from your posts.

You calling me a troll is like the pot calling the U.S. President black.

The problem with calling something "indie" is that it is way too subjective. IMO, calling something indie is more or less like calling something alternative with an elitist tone, which I sometimes find extremely annoying.

As for the 80's, let me just say I don't have much music from that time on my playlist. I see the 80's as testament to the fact that godly technique and hair will not save your music from failing.

80's music I find similar to the music now in that most mainstream artists have the same exact image and same exact sound. Its sad that people seem to think that emulating others is the only way to make it in music.

Calling something indie is 100% objective.

If it's not on a major record label, it's indie. End of story.

Everybody arguing in this thread needs to cut the insults. If you want to argue over genres/musical taste/whateverthefuck, do so without calling people idiots/morons/etcetera.

I'll probably be called lame for saying this, but one of the greatest bands around today is Death Cab for Cutie. :P Honestly. Throughout their CDs, they've changed styles a lot (in a good way). They have their first stuff which is like rock pretty much, then you have stuff on The Photo Album which is "emo" (not in the My Chemical Romance sense, but in the Piebald-ish sense), and then their newest CD Plans is mostly like.. soft, acoustic-ish songs. Death Cab is a band that deserves all its popularity (Also D: If you enjoy DCFC, check out All-Time Quarterback. One of Ben's groups, too. Also :P Postal Service of course, which is Ben singing too, with the singer of Rilo Kiley.).

I have to say, what I've heard of DCFC, I've enjoyed. And the Postal Service is also good.

Plans is an awesome album, but I think what a lot of fans have to bitch about in its regards is that it took away a lot of the like... "rock" edge from them, and so now that they're getting more exposed, people think of them as a really soft acoustic band, instead of like a rock band like they were a few CDs ago. :p

Both bands are decent, but I like The Postal Service better. I didn't listen to them too much, but I think the lead singer's voice is better suitable for the more mellow songs, which The Postal Service had.
