Hm..
Well, I've been getting into power metal lately

and some viking metal and such.
Right now, I'm addicted to this band called Battlelore. They're kinda.. power metal I guess? I don't think they are, but they're labeled as such. They've got a screamer male singer, and this really hot clear female singer. They're from Finland

They sing about Lord of the Rings and dress up on stage like.. LOTR XD It's bad ass.
http://youtube.com/watch?v=rG_aitarYG0Best part, besides Kaisa singing <3 is when he yells out "Missä ne on ne kädet!? MISSÄ?!" (Where are your hands?! Where?!)
All I want to know is why you understand Finnish.

Edit: The girl has Vulcan ears. Live long and prosper.
(those are elf ears :O her name's Kaisa. I'd hit it into the future >_>; WITH the elf ears on)
I don't understand it. I'm learning it. It's a really cool language. I'm the opposite of most people who actually know what Finland is/try to study it. They get all into metal and are like LOLZOMGSCANDINAVIA HAS GOOD METAL, and depending on what band they like the most and where that one comes from, they'll start focusing on that country. Instead, I had a friend from Finland and I had heard her speak and stuff, then I started getting a bit interested in Finland and talked to more Finnish people. Scandinavia in general happens to have some of the most happiest countries on Earth (CNN said that Denmark was #1 I think? I'm pretty sure Finland is #2)
Anyway, so I got into Finland before I got into metal. Although I was kinda.. raised on metal, but it was American shit. American metal is basically like... PUSSY AND BEER (besides Black Sabbath, and Metallica and stuff.), and European metal is like.. vikings and demons, and elves. There are plenty of exceptions XD but I just wanted to make that observation. Anyway...
So I got into Finland before I got into metal

most people get into Finland because they love Children of Bodom, or they love HIM. HIM is.. ugh.. Let's just say, you know how most of the people who have an interest in Japan are slobbered-mouth, fat-faced otaku? Well, most people who like/know what Finland is are annoying 13 year old girls who want to suck the singer of HIM's dick @_@ it's fucking annoying. I don't like HIM whatsoever. Hell.. it's hard to find good Finnish music. Most of it's utter shit.
I forgot what I was going to say now.. OH, I knew what that phrase was because I had asked a Finnish friend of mine what it meant.

I understood the MISS part, but not really anything else. XD Finnish is a crazy language, if you have time I suggest you should listen to some music or shows in it. It's pretty cool. It's one of the, if not THE, hardest languages to learn for a native English speaker. It's grammar gets really really hard. It's pronunciation and such is very easy, but it's really hard to learn. If you ever tell a Finn, "I'm learning how to speak Finnish", they usually are either shocked as to why you want to (although they get a bit excited XD it's pretty funny) or they just tell you "Finnish is super hard! I don't think you can." (Then if you ask for help they help you out

)
Finns as a people are pretty cool from what I can tell. I know there's lots of individuals and such, but like as a country.. they tend to be very quiet. That's what a lot of Americans who have been there have said, it's a very quiet place. Finns are really quiet until they open up and get to know you

then they're like.. talkative just like everyone else.
Scandinavia seems like a good place in Europe to go if you like partying. Drinking is a favorite pastime of their's XD My Danish friend was shocked when she heard that the drinking age was 21 in the US, but you can drive at 16. In Denmark you can drink at 16. In Finland, I think it's 18.
ANYWAY, so here's a good band from Finland. PMMP. They're kinda rock-pop type stuff, but they're pretty good. I got Kozumou into them (and he ended up getting more of their stuff than I did XD )
