To clarify, Keikaku specializes in the lesser known bands coming out of Japan.

I seriously enjoy O.P.King, Zazen Boys, Number Girl, and Nino Trinca.

SO I've checked out a lot of recommendations. I love Sambomaster. Nino Trinca is seriously cool and unique. Out of the Sparta Locals stuff I've listened to, Dreamer and Sun Sun Sun are awesome. Still getting into Number Girl and (most) of the Zazen Boys stuff. I checked out some Going Steady, and I actually really enjoy that. Shinya's sick basslines make them much more musically fun than most punk bands I've heard.
I remebered one band I heard a while ago and liked: Hoover's Ooover. I gotta get some of that.

If you like those guys you might like Baseball Bear. Asian Keanu Reeves has an ok voice, the drummers ok, the guitarist looks like Wufei from Gundam Wing, and the bassist is good enough to NOT stand out too much.

That's what i said. Apparently one of those manufactured bands that go straight to a major label like some bands do here.

 Re: Bands from Japan
So, I know I'm necroposting here, but it's been six years since I got into all of the Japanese bands I love. Funny thing is, now that I live in Japan and I'm basically loaded, I'm just now buying a lot of these albums I first hear back when I was a college freshman. A lot of stuff like Acidman, Sambomaster, Sparta Locals, etc. I hadn't listened to in a seriously long time since most of my DL'd music got deleted years ago. I try to take the moral high ground and support the bands (and by bands, I mean Book Off and Amazon Marketplace, most of the time) by buying stuff. This is much easier to do when you live in Japan and don't have to deal with awful exchange rates and high shipping.
I was kind of out of the loop from Japanese indie music for a few years (mostly due to laziness; it takes a bit of effort to keep up with the scene, now that most of the English sites like Keikaku and JMR have kind of died off.) I don't know a lot of recent bands, so if you've heard good Japanese indie stuff recently (probably from 2009-present, about the time I stopped keeping up), please re-educate me.
I have no idea if artists like Sambomaster, Eastern Youth, Quruli, Acidman, etc. are still putting out quality music.
