I love the new song, it really has that Blue Album feel. The crunchy guitars make it sound amazing.
I like the lyrics though. It's not in response to the label wanting them to make a more commercial album, it's in response to the label wanting them to make a more commercial SINGLE. The album was pretty much done before this song was made. Geffen wanted something more single-worthy. So Rivers wrote this song and obviously took a few jabs at them. Genius. Anyways, I can't wait to hear the actual album. If Pork and Beans was this good, I have high hopes for the album.

The lyrics are lame either way. Just reminds me of a pop punk band or some shitty rap.

You mentioned that...twice.
I love the new single. Been in my head all day, listened to it at least 10 times today. I love the lyrics, and REALLY love the harmonies in the chorus.
NO clue at ALL at how it could be remniscient of rap?

It's not that I dislike the song, I actually like it, but the lyrics are just what really irk me. Anywho, it's reminiscent of a rap song because it just seems like he's trying to come off COOL and he DOESN'T GIVVA FUCK about what his record label says. Like "Lol, gaiz, they says I should write a catchy/commercial single. Here's a catchy single about me not wanting to write a catchy single." And the fact that that Beverly Hills song was just... ugh and the video was shot at the Playboy Mansion... that's pretty damned commercial. It also just reminds me of like THIS IS THE ANTHEM THROW ALL YOUR HANDS UP because it's just so... the lyrics are just agagaghaghaghadsghjsgdsfh;dhfdsfh. Overall, though, I was pleased with it. D: I'm anxious for the new album.

Erm, anybody have the reason that Rivers is taking up to wearing a cowboy hat?

Re: Weezer
I lol'd. Anyway, I have no problems with the lyrics in Pork and Beans. I like them, actually.
Edit: Don't drag me into this argument, ok?

Re: Weezer
I have no problem with this song at all. It's classic Weezer. If you don't expect their songs to be a little poppy, then I don't think you don't have the right impression of them. Now the lyrics in Pork and Beansarea little different, but I don't think it compares to Beverly Hills or something like that, which was not good at all.

Re: Weezer
I couldn't tell if that was directed at me or not because my head's spinning right now, but either way, Weezer was the first band I ever really got into, first REAL album I bought was the blue album when I was 11. So, I'm quite familiar with them, if I do say so. I know they're poppy. I'm pretty sure I didn't say otherwise. I might be wrong though.

Re: Weezer
I was reasing in the latest RS about the new album. There will be a 6 minute epic, and each member is singing at least one song. I'm super excited. As for the single...
It seems that way h2, because it is...Rivers went to pitch the new album and the Label didn't like it, blah blah blah, they needed a catchy single. What he did was go home, dissapointed and angry, and wrote this song. He actually took things said/things that happened at that meeting and used them in the song.
Again, I love the single, can't wait for the whole album.

Re: Weezer
There's also this one song that'll be on there, Mrs. Sweeny, that the band seems to be raving about. Apparently the song goes through a lot of different stylistic changes, including Rivers doing something he calls "Southern rap". Scott seems pretty hyped about it too, so I hope it's good. That and another of the bonus tracks is going to be a full band version of Pig, that Rivers' demo tht leaked last year. Can't wait to hear that.

Re: Weezer
Disc 1 of the Red Album has been leaked. You can probably get it on torrents. My friend has it but I refuse to listen yet.

Re: Weezer
Red album you say? Hmm.
My first album was the blue album, but I've never cared for their other albums too much. The last one I plain didn't like outside of the first two songs. I should probably look into this.
