Re: Zazen Boys
I don't know how many of you use the iTunes store, but Zazen Boys now have most of their discography in the US store.

Re: Zazen Boys
Yeah, some of the stuff (Shibuya Apple Store live and Matsuri Session Yaon) I haven't seen elsewhere. I wish Mukai would make the other Matsuri Session discs (2.26.2004 and 12.27.2005) available since they were only sold at shows in Japan and are extremely rare.

Re: Zazen Boys
I saw them tonight, at a multi-band concert. They played after Echostream, and before Boom Boom Satellites. I met Mukai.
The setlist was:
I Don't Wanna Be With You (not the album version, the PV version) Honnoji Himitsu Girl's Top Secret Cold Beat Riff Man Asobi

Best live show I've ever seen, and one of the greatest experiences of my life.
*forgot one track, they played 6, not 5. Himitsu Girl's!

Re: Zazen Boys
Pretty awesome. I love how Mukai signs things. This was in NYC, right?

::crossing my fingers for you!!::
Seriously. It would be so cool. Alucard says they're on the pricier end, but I'll fork up. Will give a shoutout to xtsquintx's awesomeness in next GR+Mare pillows cover video.
Again, not getting my hopes TOO far up. But. Man, I'd really appreciate it.

Re: Zazen Boys
Purple Sky has some photos of the Irving Plaza show as well as an interview.
It looks like Yoshikane's playing around with a TC Electronic pedal in the first few - looks awfully similar to the Nova delay that I have. Seems like he's ditched the Bad Cat amp for a Marshall of some sort. Meanwhile, Matsushita's gotta be playing the gaudiest-looking drum set ever. He's a great drummer but I miss the fiery roar of Inazawa's Canopus kit.

pS: Is Zazen Boys working on any new music?
Mukai: Yes we are. We have many illmatic songs now.
Good finds, Thinline. Man, I'm so jealous of New York. Why can't the guys play a show on the west coast? LESS AIRFARE.

Re: Zazen Boys
I'd be fine with that. Hip-hop vocals and synths + live drums/bass/guitar and no sampling sounds great to me.

Yes. Asobi is one of my favorite songs by Zazen Boys.

Nah, Sabaku son. Sabaku shows that Mukai can actually pull off singing pretty comfortably (as did some recordings of Kimochi). He doesn't need all of that screeching, vocal cord ripping shit.
Ideally, we could meld the deep grooves and delay effect of Asobi with the vocal smoothness of Sabaku. I'd be okay if ZB went in that direction. I'd still miss the old Zazen Boys. But anything to get away from this...weird shit.
