A bootleg restoration of the Beach Boys' Smile. Not as complete as Brian Wilson's recent release of it, but the vocals man, the vocals.
I assume I should check these out. You should send it to me.

Looking forward to the arrival of my copy of the Red Hot Chili Peppers' I'm With You. The album sounds great (especially "Even You Brutus?"), even with the loss of Frusciante.

I'm disappointed that the title isn't Et tu, Brute?

Everything I've heard from their new album so far has sounded turbo-bland, and that's coming from someone who's been a loyal peppers fan for as long as he can remember.

On the other hand, it makes one appreciate the underrated One Hot Minute even more. :groovin:

I've been listening to this motherfucker non-stop for, like, the past 24 hours. The song just popped up on my itunes and I haven't been able to quit listening to it.

It's funny, wasn't the song renamed to Sukiyaki due to the worry that Americans wouldn't be able to pronounce "Ue wo muite arukou"? I mean, I get that. But Sukiyaki? That's like having a song called in the US called "Looking Up While Walking" and having Japanese people call it "Hamburger."

Oh. Nevermind. An R&B group covered it in the 80s. Changed the name to Sukiyaki and changed all the original lyrics to a love song. That's what hit the top of the charts. Not the original song itself. Though the original did get a boost from that.

The guy died in a plane crash in Japan. I remember reading about that a long time ago. Sad stuff.
The guy died in a plane crash in Japan. I remember reading about that a long time ago. Sad stuff.
Yep, and people still haven't quite gotten over it. I remember hearing that some years ago an instrumental version of this song was played on a Japanese flight and that it generated a lot of outrage.

And, actually, Sakamoto Kyu's version did top the American charts back in 1963. He's the only Japanese artist to ever do so. the pillows ought to take a page from his book, lol :groovin:
