i see that people here are completely stupid. not everyone however.

honestly, just because i wasn't alive during that time, doesn't mean i don't know about what happened or what the subject is about. don't fucking assume that about anybody. don't assume that i don't know shit about the music. this fight was never about being the best critic. really, this was just a stupid fight by a stubborn person who has accepted the opinion of what was marketed towards her.

and you seem to be blind because i never-ever talked about their style of music.

word of advice-read before you post.
Never talked about style of music? I'm sorry, I thought the main objection of a band was to play music--and you're talking about bands. Therefore, you're talking about their music!

While I somewhat agree with what you're trying to talk about (the differences of the noun "punk" and the genre of music that became "punk"), you're still acting like you're the top authority on the issues at hand. And that is what I was commenting on. It's easy for someone to express their own opinions on something without listening or trying to understand what other people are saying; apparently the hard thing is to be mature enough to express your views without resorting to saying that a mass audience of people were "sucking a band's dick". However, it's equally as obtuse for someone to combat an argument when all they have to go on is their mainstream music comphrehension; music is way to expansive of a topic to only talk about using the most popular artists of each genre.

But oh wait... I took your advice and read before I posted this, and realized that since you are "thejediPUNK" that you must know everything about "punk". I mean, how would you be able to register that screen name unless you passed the punk aptitude test?

my screen name is just a name. i could have made that up at random or because i thought it had a nice ring to it.

true a bands purpose is to play music. but like i said before, i wasn't talking about the pistols', clash' or ramones' music. i already said that i acknowledge that their music is that of the rock'n'roll sub-genre called punk rock. i already stated that i give them credit for bringing it into the world. in fact, i never doubted them in that sense. the only think close to their music that i mentioned was the lyrics to the song "Anarchy in the UK", but that was never to judge wether the song sounds like punk rock or not.

i don't think i am some authority on punk. i will admit that i became quite stubborn in the process of this argument. i've already said that i am not a punk and i do NOT consider myself punk. i can even tell you that 2 other bands that i listen to are not punk, yet they play punk rock and are from the same time and place as the pistols. i throughly read all of Mellie's posts on this argument. none of them contain anything that proves me wrong about the mentioned bands. she even acknowledeged that she knew what punk was. therefore, she should accept the fact that the pistols played punk rock music, and that they were never punk in the sense of what the movement was about. the ramones merely created the image of what is fashion punk. the clash, while the only ones that seem to be concerned with the movement, never actually lived it out.

Have you Realised that Rock Stars
Always seem to lie so much?
John Lydon once said he cared
But he never really gave a fuck
Said he'd use the money he made
So that people would have somewhere to go
But now he lives in the USA
and Snorts Coke after the Show.

Why is it that Rock Stars
Always seem to lie so much?
Joe Strummer once said he cared,
but he never really gave a fuck
Said he'd use the money he made
To set up a radio station to make the
Airwaves full of something more than Shit
Have you noticed we're still Waiting?

You must realise that Rock Stars
Always seem to lie so much
Some will always tell you that they care,
But they don't really give a fuck,
Still you suckers don't ever learn
That rock stars deal in money not truth
It's good Buisiness to exploit you
Just look at Lydon or Strummer for Proof.

what YOU dont seem to realize jedi, is that even being what you'd call a "fashion punk" now, used to make a HUGE socio-political statement.

[edit] ok back on topic: get a strat man! price, versatility, and a great sound.

You're throwing in a huge argument to prove your ignorance and so called knowledge on the subject and I don't know why. I know you asked to put things back on topic, but you could have ended it easily on several occasions. Oh well. Opinions of others really don't have anything to do with what guitar you should buy. Play whatever you can get your hands on and see what you like for yourself. It doesn't have to be one of the big names.
