I can barely remember it. I only remembering them having to stop like 10 times to clean up toilet paper people threw on stage. I was in one of the sky box things because my mom's work gave out free tickets to stuff.

So my first concert was some random metal band called Ill Nino, went because me and my friend were that bored. They weren't bad, really. Liked concerts after that. I've seen COUNTLESS local shows (here in Toledo, OH) because I help out at a random little cafe place that hosts them so I've seen millions of bands free. Most embarassingly I went to see Slipknot (friend wanted me to come with because noone else would) but it actually turned out to be infreakingcredible. There were over 5000 people there, and 10 minutes into the opening band's set (either was Chimaira or 40 Degrees Below summer) the crowd had already knocked over the barriers. Then there was a a gigantic plastic bottle war and lots of hilarity. May not be the best music, but heavier rock concerts are loads of fun. I've also seen Rush, very impressive, they can just go on for hours and hours, Lifeson soloing endlessly, and when Neal Peart busts out with a 15 minute drum solo your jaw just drops as far as it can.
Yeah other than that, I've only seen the mentioned infinite local bands.
This year, I'm making it my goal to see the pillows (in Chicago), Queens of the Stone Age (in Cleveland), and System of a Down (wherever they feel like playing).
Oh and one question, Replica... where and when did you see Primus? Im jealous!

Super amazing my friend, super amazing.
And as for rush too, yeah, neil peart owns. Definately my favorite drummer. him and his 24k gold set.

I like Green Day. Their newest album disappointed me pretty badly, though.
I've never been to see a major band play, I go to smaller bar venues in Iowa City. Gabe's Oasis gets indie artists fairly frequently, and local bands get to open for them. I saw one show where MAE and Rufio played. Liked MAE, didn't like Rufio. I also got to see Jets to Brazil, which was pretty awesome.

yeah. that's what most ppl say. i don't get it though, because i think american idiot was very good. i dig how they clearly show their opinion against the shit that's going on in the us right now and what bush was and still is doing..
why don't you like it? no happy, crazy poppunk-feeling anymore?

That's what did it for me. Not to say that it was bad, just not as good as say, dookie.
I've never been to a big concert, so the pillows'll be my first 'real' one, i suppose.

And that's the reason why.

ooph.. best big (to me they're legends.. to you all maybe not) bands ive seen... youth brigade, the adolescents, the circle jerks, agnostic front..
all my favorites are the local shows.. the observers, statch & the rapes, autistic youth, all out.
the MOST fun though are the shows i actually get to PLAY, we play about 2 times a month, and its the most thrilling experience ever, since im the singer.

Not so much that, it's just that there were only a few songs on there that really clicked with me. The song American Idiot has a really great guitar riff, which made me hopeful the first time I listened to the CD, but I personally thought the lyrics were so terrible that they totally killed the song.
I guess I lost interest in them after Nimrod. I totally missed Warning except for the song Minority, and then American Idiot didn't really work for me when I heard it. Compared to, say, Dookie, Insomniac or 1,039/Smoothed-Out Slappy Hours (all of which I can listen to straight through and not want to skip a song), it just felt weak.
But everyone feels differently.
